I just saw the pic and yes it does. I'll try to fix that. 31 gallons should be enough for what I need. I will likely carry one of my 6 gallon tanks as a reserve for the long trips. It's about 25 miles to lakeside one way.

From the dimensions written on it it looks like it should fit just fine without moving stringers. Nice find! When you get the particulars of make and model and vrify the dimensions be sure to let us know for future reference.

Ok, that tank was advertised wrong so he has another that works better. He had it posted as 30-31, but it's really 23. To small. The aluminum one he has is 33 and still fits. tank2.jpg

The plan is to put this so that it extends under the splash well. The filler and vent are perfect to where my original filler and vent are located. I'll build a cover like the buys build for their inboard engines to house the batteries under a false bottom and have storage above that for life jackets, fenders... The battery compartment will have to be open to under the splash well for proper ventilation.

Interior will have a captains seat for driver, lounge seat on passenger side and jump seats on each side of storage box. That way i can put a cooler behind the drivers seat. Can't carry enough drinking water on the boat. I like the idea of a builtin cooler, but haven't found what I like yet.

Another question. I've read about using thicker material for floors. I think 3/4 is overkill but 5/8 seems good. Is there anything to consider for that? Would I need to cut side panels a little shorter to fit?

I wouldn't worry about the panels being 1/8" taller, shorter is the problem. :)

Has anyone used Pertronix ignition on their Marine engines? I've used them on classic cars with great results, Just curious on these marine engines.

You may have to start up a thread in the Merc forum about the TOP.

Whoa those 6 cyl TOPs have a dizzy?

I don't think Pertronix makes an OB system. Pretty sure they don't. Harleys, cars and trucks.

Hmmmm turns out it's a mod to use pertronix on an outboard. It's easier on johnson/even rude but can me done on a TOP. Guess I'll stick with factory on this one.

I got her all unhooked. Wish my skid loader wasn't down. I may go buy some materials to lift her off the boat tomorrow. I can use the structure of the carport roof to hold it in place. Yes, before you ask, it's strong enough. I have a carpenter that helped me build it for this purpose. Doubled 2x12 structure.

I've done this with a come along from an overhead beam a couple of times. Go slow and be careful and have a engine stand to drop it on. works great.

Thanks Ron, working on it. I built a motor stand. Not pretty, but very strong. Couldn't get plans to print so I just got a couple measurements and built it by best guess. Good news it only cost a few screws. Built from scraps laying around. motor stand.jpg

Ok, motor is closer to coming out. Icy road stopped me from getting more lumber to make a lifting point so I trudged through the snow and dug out my engine hoist. I have all the parts of it in the carport now. Merc's are a little tougher to pull. They have a proprietary lifting part. I didn't want to wait a week for one to arrive so I did a little research and came up with a plan. There are 8 flywheel bolts so I took out every other one. got some longer bolts and cut 2 short pieces of chain. Now I have a lift point stronger than the 3 point I read about. Got my fingers crossed. Now i just need to pull the through the transom bolts and it's off.

Fuel tank is on it's way. Should be here in a week. If the weather holds, I'll get the splash well off tomorrow.

20160130_112451_resized.jpg Between computer crashing and work, it took some time to get motor removed. Knee brace is broken. Right at the top where the top 2 bolts go through the transom. Transom is severely warped. How is everyone reinforcing this?
