Hi all,
I am a total newbie to this forum, so please bear with me if I screw anything up!
My question is:
I blew up my starter (Prestolite MGD4006 w/ 12 tooth drive gear) and can't find a decent replacement for it, so I was wondering if it would be possible to convert the flywheel/starter to the newer 9 tooth set up that they used on the 1969-79 motors?
I currently have my starter in trying to get it rebuilt, but they said that it may not be saveable, due to the amount of arcing in the armature. Does that sound right?
Thanks in advance for any and all responses!
