Trying to get as much done before the 5/9 surgery date so Instead of the June 1st launch date I was hoping for, maybe I'll make July 1st?

Here are a few more pics.

Painted the bilge white:

And mounted the backer for the motor remote control:

That will be it for a while until the back heals up. Surgery was success... at least so far :behindsofa:

Great great job on the boat. She looks awesome. I didn't' see your link until tonight. I was wondering what happened to that tri hull. lol. Good luck with your back. I've got 3 dirty discs in mine. L4, L5, S1. I know all to well about back pain. And there is nothing worse for the back than working on these dang boats. Feel better...

Yeah... that old trihull is basically ready for the transom and to start rebuilding her. She is next on the list. No stringers to do as she has a fiberglass box grid stringer system

Re: 1968 Glassmaster Runabout

Is this the thread with the seat restore?

yes it is. I just have to get a few more pics and I'll get posting.

Wood, I have rebuilding my lounge seats for the Glassmaster.

Just been slow going with the back surgery and all but I am getting a few things done.

Give me a day or two and I'll get the thread up to date.

Thanks everyone :)

Re: 1968 Glassmaster Runabout

From my old seats, I was able to salvage the hinges, foam, the support foot (when the seat is lounged all the way back) and the plastic stopper when the seat is folded up.

I was able the get close enough measurements for each piece of wood that was needed for both the seat base and seat bottoms.

I used 1/4" ply for this.

I sanded the edges straight (as I cannot cut a straight line if my life depended on it) :embarassed:

I then dry fit the base pieces together:

and cut and dry fitted the cleats:

and then glued and clamped the cleats with Titebond III:

The next day, I glued and screwed the bases together and stained them. I am hoping that really soaking them good with stain will help them last longer:

I was going to fiberglass them but it was hard to justify the expense when I had a bunch of stain already that I could use.

The next day I started dry fitting the seat together (drilling holes) and using the new t-nuts and bolts I got:

Re: 1968 Glassmaster Runabout

The next day I started measuring and cutting the vinyl and started covering the first base. I then also covered seatbase number 1 ( this one does not move) and attached to the base:

Not the best job but I did not want to try to mess with sewing pieces together for the perfect fit. It will work for me.
For the hell of it, we threw it in the boat to see what it looked like:

Oh yeah, got the side panels covered and installed in the boat too.
