That rear wood work looks great! I am mildly concerned about how the vinyl is going to react to the heat of the engine. One other concern is future maintenance looks to be tricky with that structure over the engine. Looks like just changing the plugs could be a tough reach.

Just a thought, and I could be wrong and it could just be the angle of the photo but, figured I would mention it now vs. later. Have you considered hinging that section over the engine so it could be tilted up for service? You could just cut it free and add the hinges and a latch so it doesn't bounce/blow open on the water.

Keep feeding me ideas! I am learning from all of you guys here and look forward to tearing into mine this winter...

The top instead of riveting im gonna screw it down so I can remove it when I work on it.
As far as the vynil near the engine well that I would have to put attention too when I splash. I will be driving without the dog house to hear & see for any problems.

Glad to see that the what I thought might be clearance problems were just the angle of the pics. Sounds like you have a good game plan in place.

Im gonna put close attention to the heat issue. I might just install heat insulation in that area. Im glad u brought that up. Im gonna read & search for some of that.

Man, Murphy keeps finding ways to delay me. I have to get stickers (safety & registration) for my vechile, and things just pop up and on and on. Well anyway I managed to find materials for some work. As you all know my dash is 2 feet forward than original. So my side gunnels would have to be custom. SO I decided to add a litlle swoosh to it (nike style). See pics.

Why not? I think its only apropiate to have a Nike symbolism as its slogan is "Just do It!" Azlo in Latin is the same thing "DO It". So why not. I had to glue 2 pieces for it to reach the back. As soon as I can I will epoxy and Vynil it up too.

Great weekend fellas.

Woo hoo, finally I went ahead and ordered my outdrive!! Well sorta, half of it will be here & other a little later but still it is coming! Ok so what I have done meanwhile to keep my insanity, I have made some doors for the bilge area. I tell ya this was an easy thing but i had to cut several times before I could match to the curvature of the top. Other wise no matter how square the doors were it would look crooked. And from the looks of it I might have to retouch one of them.

The door hinges look like they have to go. I dont feel them. Yes one door is larger than the other, that is on purppose. That where the fuel tank is.

SO finally I get the lower bottom outdrive!!

MAH010901.jpg

This is how SEI sends their drives. It seems they send them in 2 pieces.

MAH010912.jpg

I figured i can get the upper next month. Well, looking at the drive its begging to get blued. I can tell.

MAH010913.jpg

MAH010914.jpg

Very nice, it even comes with its own id tag. Nice eh.

MAH010915.jpg

This is the break in procedures. Might be a little hard to follow those.

MAH010919.jpg

With rough times im having itseems this is the only way I can get the outdrive.

Stay Tuned....Good times are coming.

Sweet - my 1968 Holiday I/O brother!!!!!

Does that mate right up to your Pre Alpha motor? Or do you order it to match the engine?

You should have got the upper first - you could have installed it !!!!

You give your engine size to match up. This is gonna be an alpha 1, should match up. I got the bottom cause it was the most expensive & I wanted to get the hurting all over with. But starcraft I/O rules Starcrafter65!!!

Back again at looking to see what i can do without spending some $ while I wait for the other half. Since I was in painting mood I painted my vents and ...........

MAH010932.jpg

My step pads. Yeah I know the step pads will wear out but I wanted to look good on splash day. Maybe I wont step on them?

MAH010934.jpg

Also had foam left for my gunnels.
