Wow that outdrive housing/bilge is looking very clean. If she runs half as well as she looks you are going to have one reliable and sharp rig Azlo.:D

Nothing exciting this weekend, sandblasted some items to get them ready for painting. The trim hadraulic line manifold, exhaust tube and the fuel water filter housing.

Will paint tomorrow if not too cold.

Awesome work! Like watching an artist learn by doing. You sure you aren't a redneck? I keep expecting to read about how you needed more room and bought a bigger house for the project. Love the post!

Hahaha, like they say a boat is a money hole. U have to get this, u have to get that. Sometimes ihave to get a breather. Like right now I had to dip into my emergency funds and im gonna have to refill it. SO no more spending for a awhile. Thanks for your comments Alacast. If I could I would buy my own lake, no disturbance.

I thought this was goin to be a boat resto. Looks like it's a copy of pimp my ride :)

It all looks show quality on every piece.

PS They are money pits aren't they. Now that I think about it I could have probably built up a car resto cheaper. Once every thirty years isn't bad though...she'll be around in 2040 for sure.

No kidding Sprintst, This has caused me to really plan things out. But its my first resto so I know I gonna go overboard on some things.

Re: 1968 Holiday Restoration w/pics

It feels good to have a week off. I just had my coffee so im posting whats been done so far. Looking forward to this week.

Had some orders arrive, one of them being my fuel tank vent, First chrome part I Install.

Copy2ofMAH007232.jpg

I been reading about steering cables, racks, etc. I read really good reviews about the rotech. Makes sense how the gears line up. So I decided to get it. And to my surprise it comes with a steering wheel. I wont be using it though do to the way the gauges are placed, the steering wheel covers the gauges.

CopyofMAH007235.jpg

Installed my dash to install the steering cable & helm. I think I will be redoing my dash. I think I can do better on the cuts.

MAH007243.jpg

Installed steering helm. Looking good, very easy to install. I was a little worried at the lenght of the cable since I had moved the dash forward 2 feet (make more room in the middle). But the cable fited Nicely.

MAH007265.jpg

Cable extended all the way out does not interfere with the ga tank.

MAH007266.jpg

So now we have the dash, steering helm and cable installed, along with my fuel vent. Nice.

MAH0072616.jpg

Moving on to the gas tank Brackets.

Re: 1968 Holiday Restoration w/pics

SO, I decided to keep things simple and just use aluminum straps for the fuel tank. Similar to how a vehicle straps its fuel tank. Got the aluminum at HD. Bending was easy, but scewing them was kind of hard. i dont know how hard it was for you guys screwing into epoxy but i had to use a ratchet. Got tired of that so I went Harbor to get me a air screwdriver. Made things easier, oh yes.

MAH007301.jpg

So, so far I have the rear straps mounted now gonna bend & install the fronts. Gonna get after it & will see you guys later.
