1969 25 hp sporster 1971 25 hp johnson powerhead swap?

The Johnson has a bad power head the Evinrude has all bad motormounts. I pulled the powerhead off the Rude and plan to do the same with the Johnson and either put the good power head on the johnson or start harvesting parts from it. My issue is the cover styles are different and so are the motormounts, I like the sixties sporster looks but it does not look like the Johnson mounts will jive. Also part #37
— 204809 — BRACKET, COVER MOUNT is broken on the rude and the corresponding Johnson bracket is different. I saw one on e-bay for 10$ and some used mounts for 7$ instead of the 50$ they want for new. Should I just suck it up and replace the parts or try to use the ones off the Johnny? The only downside to the 69 cover is it is harder to pull the carb because of the way the bottom cowling is lipped. Any advise or pointers on this adventure appreciated.

I really can't comment on the parts swap-ability without doing considerable research. I am surprised that the motor mounts are different, but if you say so, OK. That bracket that holds the front hood mounts was made in quite a few varying shapes, so be careful what you buy there.

I don't consider the carburetor difficult to remove from the Evinrude if you go about it properly. Remove the screws from the silencer cover and simply tilt the whole thing out of the way and you should be able to get the carburetor off.

Whats the best way to get at part 303879 — MOUNT, RUBBER, UPPER SIDE ? I have two broken, on on each motor. I have the power heads and lower cowlings off now what?

Remove the clamshell covers from the lower mounts. With nuts off of the upper side mounts and loosened on the upper front, the whole thing will swing rearward from the bottom end, up and out of the bracket at the top.
