Getting good advice -- don't mean to be a contrarian, but I don't think your carb uses a boss gasket -- seems to me that came up before with another lister with a similar motor; in checking, I don't see it on the parts diagram (http://epc.brp.com/Index.aspx?lang=E...5-2ce316e9fcbc). Can see what you think.

There appear to be a couple of plugs, one (#2) on the top by the core plug, and another at the carb bowl (#34) -- called the fuel passage plug. I would say if there are more plugs than shown, a PO might have incorrectly put them in there, maybe blocking a passage or vent.

I agree you probably don't need to soak it again -- might want to pull it apart, though. Using the plastic nozzle, I would spray carb cleaner in every hole, top, bottom and sides. See where the spray comes out (Keep your face away.) Would do the same with the high speed jet under the hex bolt on the bottom front. I've also run monofilament or thin soft wire through them (really not all that tiny an "orifice"), but that's heresy and can't recommend it. They are brass and can be damaged (think folks sometimes talk about using a drill bit the size of the opening -- definitely a real bad idea.)

[edit. See you are getting another h.s. jet, so ignore my heresy. Might be a PO buggered up your jet doing that drill and poke thing....]

The gasket is clearly shown to go around the nozzle.--------And it is on the similar model that I am working on.

Happy to take your word for it on faith, racer -- not seeing it on the diagram or parts listing for the '69.

????----The original parts diagram shows the gasket to go around the nozzle.----The superceded gasket shows a seperate gasket for the nozzle.---A carburetor kit for many models from 2005 down to 1969 shows the nozzle gasket.

Got it -- built into the float bowl gasket for '69 -- NLA.

(i.e., "new" kit with the nozzle gasket)

Old1...go to marine engine dot com...'69..25hp..carb group...see the original float bowl gasket in the diagram?...scroll down to that part # and look closely at the pic for the gasket...see how it resembles what you'd normally expect that gasket to look like?...note the small boss gasket included in the pack?....I had a "69..25 hp. a year or so ago and that's what was in the carb rebuild kit....never knew it ever had any other kind, much less one that resembles the original gasket...anyway, I guess that's the updated version

Thanks for all the help guys, haven't tore into it yet, but I double checked the carb kit and sure enough that little round gasket that looks like a closed up E clip is sitting there waitin to be installed.

Original gasket was all one piece, with a protruding section that sealed the pickup tube.

It'll probably be Friday before I get into it unless I go walleye fishing in the Detroit River with my buddy.
