What do you think of this one?

Ad says:
I have a 18 foot starcraft boat 90 horse crysler for sale nice trailor. boat has open bow deep sides.pole holders, fish finder, life jackits, gas tank. nice boat for river or ocean.

I know nothing about Chrysler motors, any good? Sell it and ad another? Easy to get parts?

Don't be afraid to let me know what you really think.

Thanks,
OC

Nice boat not to sure it would do to good in the ocean. River or Back Bay boat okay. With all that camo the fish wouldn't see you coming. What's the sticker price for a vessel like this go for? 1970 something outboard could be hard finding parts.

could be a nice boat with a little work. If the Chrysler doesnt need any work they are decent motors but parts are hard to come by or expensive.

Chryslers are simple motors that are easy to wrench on. They were usually a little weaker than the equivalent motors from the other brands. The biggest issue is parts support. We do have a tremendous resource here on iboats in that the Chrysler/Force section here has some real gurus. But the parts thing may get you. From I understand, you can't even buy a friggin' prop for one. It's a bummer cuz I think they are super cool looking motors. If I acquired one, I'd run it. But I don't think I'd pay much for one.

I picked up a little 4hp Chrysler a couple years ago to fix up. Did a lot of emailing and calling trying to find ignition parts. Found one guy with parts and they weren't cheap. If it runs great you can use it or sell it. If it needs work I'd be using that to talk him down cheaper or offer less if he keeps the motor.

The boat has tons of potential, check for hull damage underneath. If no cracks, major dents or any other damage the boat should be worth about $1000.

The Chrysler will get mixed reviews, at least check compression and see if it might be a runner.

Parted out it might get enough cash to put towards a newer outboard.

We love Starcraft boats here so our opinions may be biased:D

I was afraid the Chrysler was in the Force family.

Asking price is $1995, I do live in the aluminum boat capitol of the US, so prices tend to be double that of the east coast.

Paint on the bow is a bad camo job. And yes nice galv trailer, nearly worth the asking price alone.

A sane person would have to repaint tne entire interior and at least the front of the hull. The interior condition looks ok but OMG that color. Nice trailer. boat looks clean but the Chrysler motor is a BIG gamble. There are a lot of boats out there that don't have the potential problems I see with that one. I have restored two in 5 years and even the good ones are a lot of work.

For the upper midwest, that would be too expensive! For my area that would probably be a $500 - $900 boat.

Course it does have that 1/4 hull camo paint job - adds value.:facepalm:

Yeah that price would be too high in my area also. Even with a Johnson/Evinrude/Mercury it would be a little high, but less of a gamble. But hey, if you can't get anything in your area cheaper and that one meets your needs, go for it.

Out of curiosity, where is the aluminum boat capitol of the US? :)

Pacific NW, Most major WELDED boat manufacturers are in Oregon, Wasington, and Idaho. This seems to drive the value of all aluminum boats. Its very hard to find any 18ft boat for under $3000 regarless of the type of motor, if through a dealer add another grand. Outhere older glass boats are you under $1000 easy find.

Oh yea there and it worked out great for me ($100) Apallo with good motor and outdrive:D. Only bad thing is that I will have to get rid of a crappy hull, but will still make money off of it.
