Re: 1971 16' ss

I have to wait till my build partner gets back into town, since he actually ordered the lights.

I installed the stereo last night. (Millenia PRV-15) It's the smallest 4x40 stereo I've ever seen that has a USB hookup. (not to mention it's under $100 most places)

I can't believe how quiet that Yammie runs...or how small that stereo is:D

What are you hitting for speed wide open with no tube? I've heard that a 50hp Yamaha acts like a 70hp:)

32.5 mph GPS is the fastest so far, but there was a pretty good chop on the water that was scrubbing some speed.

I have another prop to test out as well, that I think may go 34ish.=)

If I can hit 34 with a 50, I will be super pleased.

Your dash panels look great with the metallic blue. I was planning on doing the LEDs on my resto but I have not found the right ones yet. I really like the fact that you can change the color. Send me a PM of where you got them.

The boat looks great! Love the diamond floor you used. Should be pretty bomber, and it won't ever rot! :D That's a plus!

I too am intrested in those LED's. I found something similar, but after seeing yours I think I'll get those. So get a link up man! :D Would be much appreciated. I'm also thinking about a radio like you put in... Thanks for selling me on everything now  lol.

What a machine, very cool lighting, but there is one thing niggling me - are your Nav lights legal?

It is my understanding the there are specific angles that the lights need to show around the boat - to be able to see both colours from one side is a no no

You have to think big picture.;)

There is an anchor bracket that mounts between them, but isn't finished yet. I still have to mount my trolling motor bracket up there as well.

Here's what I put on the bow for both a little bling, and to keep from scratching up the paint.

Another nicety I picked up, and need to built a mount for. (it'll hang off the boat in the same location the crab davit mount does)

Oh you dog Veil, if I smell it I am going to come visit you buddy. Man you have done a great job and that tinny and now a BBQ to go with it will be sweet. You going to be doing any fishing this weekend? A coworker has asked me to go sturgeon fishing Saturday but am thinking that I am going to work on the Islander instead. I like your anchor nest you made there as well, looks good.

I'll be gator fishing on Saturday somewhere between the mouth of the Willy (maybe Big C) and downtown.

I think I have $35-40 in that anchor bracket total. (cost me $20 to have it bent up with me supplying materials)

Here it is before we headed out this morning for Sturgeon fishing. Wound up with 14 in 4 hrs, not a bad day.

The anchor bracket and bow mount bracket are done and installed. I'll take a pic from the top tomorrow.

Still need to paint the trailer...some day. lol

For the stereo I did include the make and model, which should make it pretty easy to find a retailer...

Seats are in the boat, as modeled by Ken.

and...the new MIG (newer version of my existing one) just for fun. I used the spool gun on the MIG to weld the boxes

I really wish I had the knowledge and talent to weld Veil.... there are so many times and things I have needed and wanted to weld. Nice seats .. they look like temptress seats... but I havent seen them before with the back and arms like that.

Re: 1971 16' ss

You are correct, they are Tempress Seats. (Tempress Elite Highback)

The Elite's are kind of considered their offshore models, which is why they have the handle on the back. The Navistyle's force you sit too straight up for my taste, but these are just right.

Kicker bracket I built tonight. We'll see how well it works, some time soon. If it doesn't...well...I'll have to make another one...lol

I didn't clean it up at all, so the welds still have some soot on them.

Sorry bud but i think you need to get back to the drawing board.
Don't see it holding up very well without triangles on your stress joints.
Buddy bought one on c-list that looked even stronger.... had to weld in more material to fix it. Cracks showed up real fast.

I'm putting one more gusset on it, but I really doubt it will need any more than that. I'll take my chances to test it out.=)

The majority of the high level stress on any TM bracket is caused during trailering, from them not being secured appropriately. (bouncy bouncy=breakage)
