How do you take the plates off that are above the lower unit but below the cowl and powerhead. The green sides that case the motor in.

Is it a simple procedure or is there some sort of parts linked to this?

I am wanting to repaint these.

thanks

It is quite complicated because of the need to disconnect almost all of the linkage plus the front panel. At a minimum, you will need both the factory service manual and the parts manual.

That essentially equates to a powerhead removal.

Good luck is all I can say. There are so many steps to taking that motor apart, that's why a service manual would be good to have. I have the same type of motor in the shed that I managed to get apart after these guys gave me some direction, and I used the brp website diagram for some help. I haven't even bothered putting the motor back together and it was/is a running motor, I just had to get the drive shaft out of the powerhead. Those motors are a pain.

I will probably just leave it alone. I will paint it while attached. Id like to paint the insides, but will probably just leave it alone.

thanks though for the help
