I'm afraid you're going to need to redo that one board. Pressure treated can NOT be used near aluminum. It will eat it big time. This is NO JOKE I've seen the damage it causes.

Hey Ezmobee-

Yeah it looks like p/t in the pic- but its not. It is a S4S board with a non-corrosive water sealer on it (thompsons). Thx for lookin out for me tho.

New pics- not the best- but just wanted to ad them. Thus far- new two-tone paint black bottom white upper. New floor/carpet. Dash installed, new steering cable, control cables. Paint on all the interior boards. Still working on it in between working and family time.

thanks for all the input on the project. Sorry all the pics are at night time- but when you are working during the day- family in the evening, projects fit in sometime between 8:30 and midnight. Here is a couple more- darn close to splashing the boat.

After looking at your boat, you want to come up here and do mine? I'll buy a 6 pack.

Thanks again for the responses. Yes- it does have a lot of room on the deck now. Since it was a in/out originally, and now that it has a gill bracket on it, I have 12' of deck space from the step up in the cockpit area all the way to the transom. I can set my jon-boat in it and take it with us to the river for the kids-lol. I am gonna put a bimini or a hard-frame top on it over the cockpit area to keep us from blistering in the high uv state we live in.

I know its not a starcraft- but hell- she's a tinnie. I just got off the phone with a guy in Ga. He has a free 32' Marienette Cruiser with 2 running 351's. The cabins have been stripped and it is sitting in the water @ his dock. Imma REALLY considering going and getting it- the price is RIGHT.

Looks like you are all set to land small single-prop aircraft on the rig, huge deck:D

Everything is looking great, nice work. I agree, if you need more than one chopper landing pad then a Marinette is the only way to go.

Seriously, those Marinettes are some nice massive tin cans, we will need photos-- and good luck to ya!

Yeah- for laughs I might lay a small heli pad outta something on it and take a pic. As regards the Marinette- I am having a local contact go look at it and look REAL hard before I make a trip for nothing. Free is not always a good deal. The owner said he has been trying to sell it for 2 yrs now with no takers??? Makes be believe something isnt right with it. I am concerned about the condition of the hull- I was told it has been in the water for the past 11 yrs straight. The location where it is- is known for high acidic water readings. I have seen outdrives that were 4 yrs old eaten away like swiss cheese. For all I know the hull could be paper thin or actually have holes thru it, I will just have to wait and see.

Re: 1971 starcraft 21' islander - custom build

Photo056[1].jpgPhoto055[1].jpgSPLASH!!!!!!!! In she went and away we go!!! This thing runs like a champ. We run her for 2 hrs all went well, and we went back to the dock. That is where I took these 2 pics. Moments after the pics were taken, the engine starting smoking (while it was off!!) I ran over and could smell electrical- so I cut the power to the battery and removed the cover to find the rectifier burned to a crisp!!! What the HECK???????? Any takers on this one? I mean how does a rectifier burn after the engine has been shut down for 30 mins or so?? I prob need to drop in and search the johnson/rude forum.

Re: 1971 starcraft 21' islander - custom build

Well- replaced the rectifier- and the harness on the engine. Found the reason for the electrical fire- GROUND SQUIRRELS!!!!! I had the cover popped up a bit for about 2 weeks while I was working on the boat. I just dropped it down and secured it when we took the boat out. Little did I know that a squirrel had built a nest under the engine cover at the base of the engine. Anywayz- she is fixed and running down the river and across the bays:) So- I found some FREE seats- spiritual seats- I mean if the boat is sinkin' I MIGHT be able to walk on water! Yep- check out my Church Pews'
Just kinda sat em in to see what they might look like with a fresh coat of white paint over the solid oak. I mean- heck for free- what could it hurt? (FYI- I am religous so I hope no-one was offended with the later).
