hey chief! yeah i used the choke.. the high idle lever.. i did as i seen the man do..pushed it all the way forward and pretty much left it in that position as i recall. one observation... high idle lever doesn't begin to increase until about 1/3 throttle. i didn't move it from the afore mentioned setting for fear of flooding.

Inlines typically leak gas like that. Could be as simple as a float that needs adjustment (just getting to the float is time consuming).

There is a topic in the FAQ which describes some of the items that should be looked at to revive a motor that has sat for a long while. The fuel system, including the supply lines and bleeder lines should be inspected and replaced. Carbs should be cleaned with new gaskets, needles, seats. Inspect the plugs/wires. Clean out the distributer cap and inspect for cracks. Follow the timing recommendations also listed in the FAQ, aiming for 21° max. Don't overlook the requirement to replace the water pump impeller, and change the gear oil.

I too have a '72 Glastron with a '72 1150. I would be very interested to know what model Glastron you have. Any pics?

Good luck.

OK..let's go back..are you sure that you have spark at all cylinders? If not, check that.

Also, not to be mean or rude, but are you having problems replying using the quote-reply button?

If so, once you click the Reply-Quote button, just type after the: [/quote]

i have a '72 glastron w/ 115hp inline six. got the boat w/ motor for a little labor. had to replace internal wiring harness and alt. stator due to burned wires. tried to start it but didn't fire. when motor is lifted for transport or storage i see a small amount of fuel out of the choke plate area. rumor has it the boat sat for a long time, restored to service w/ tune-up. what i'm i in for and where to start?

no problem chief! i'm waiting on a few replies back...i'm going back and read FAQ's about this timing/ carb sync. method, read it once- learn a little, read it more and i'll learn more....i still believe once i put this cap back on i'll get it started...still concerned about the carb condition...i'm going to pull the float bowl top on one and just see for myself!!!
