Could be the position of the armature plate, not the resulting higher RPM's, that's causing the trouble. It advances to a certain point and then something starts rubbing on the flywheel. I'd look it over real good with the engine not running, advancing from slow to fast and looking for wobble or anything peculiar.<br />Joe Reeves posted a neat trick for stabilizng these with a punch and a light hammer. Gotta pull the flywheel to do it, though.
