Picked up my 1st Starcraft after some forum lurking and members willing to help. I had been looking at the Super Sport for my 1st purchase until the Nova became available. The hull and transom are great shape but the interior will need work including replacing some soft deck boards. Signed up for Photobucket and hope to post pics soon. Alan

She didn't look too bad until the last photo. You got it JB, why?

Not knocking, delms. You did OK. Interiors always seems to catch hell due to Sun and often lack of covering. She can be a gem on the lake after you finish. :D

JBCurt, Thanks for help with pics! Yea interior ended as dump but everything else looks solid including transom. All the seats are in the dumpster. Removed old soft deck boards and white bead board insulation except the last 4' stern piece which is fine. Shop vac took about 30 gal of water out. Does it matter what density pink/blue board use as replacement? What is everyone's opinion on 1/2" ACX with 4-6 coats of Varathane Spar Urethane? Planning on marine vinyl for the top. I think did pretty good for $900 w 2 motors.

That transom looks deep. I'm assuming that's a long shaft on a 20-21" transom, but it appears to sit so low on the back of the boat. I'll trade you my 15' for your 18' :D

Awe yeah!!!! Im super jealous of that sweet tin! And you stole it! I believe in keeping your craft as light as possible at the expense of how "solid" the sole will "feel" under -foot....if you value that feel over weight then upsize to 5/8...but no more. Great find and Welcome!

I agree with BF on the decking but will add to use marine ply for the the floor, the 1/2" has 5 layers and is very strong.

Marine ply has 2 A sides and ACX has an A side and a C side. A sides are sanded smooth with no knots and few eyes. C sides none of the knots are filled. Marine ply also has almost NO voids in between the layers and if there are some they're tiny. AC ply has larger voids and more of them. 1/2" sheet that have 5 plys and 3/4" with 7 plys are what your looking for and the fewest voids. I don't really care about having unfilled knots on the C side but they do create weakness in the ply.

Preparing to replace deck boards but need some suggestions on how to handle faded out and stained side panels. They are solid and would like to avoid removing.
Is this a vinyl type material? Was thinking paint or adhering a marine backed indoor/outdoor carpet. Suggestions and tips appreciated.

Do you mean replace or remove the side panels? If your Nova is like most of the SC's then I'm not sure how you would be able to remove the decking without removing the side boards since they're screwed down to the deck and there are rivets holding the deck down to the rib ends behind the side panels bottom bracket. The side panels are also an integral part of the boats structure that normally after the years the rivets become loose and need to be replaced. The original material is a type of vinyl fabric that can be easily replaced but I don't know if I would try putting anything over it if it's getting rotten.
