Thank you, redneck. Yes, because I felt I had let my friends down after posting my excitement to get back up to speed regarding the boat restoration, the posting was meant as explanation for my friends and stress relief for me. I truly hope you never have to experience watching a beloved spouse slowly fade away before your eyes. My embarrassment regarding my previous post is considerable if you want the truth. Perhaps it would be better for all of us if a moderator just closed this thread.

Some of my builds have taken several years. Life happens and there are many things more important than rebuilding an old boat. I remember after my cardiac surgery thinking I was going to spend more time enjoying life rather than working on projects that takes some of that time away. I also soon realized that those projects are part of life too and the hobbies we enjoy are just as meaningful at times, often times even a form of therapy.

My mother was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Memory loss a terrible condition and takes a heavy toll on all those involved. Keep the thread open. We'd all love to hear the updates whenever they occur, be it this year, next year, or ten years from now. Keep your head high and focus on you and your family. You've got your priorities straight.

Thank you, my friends, for your understanding. I really believe the reason for my heartfelt posts concerning Joyce is that I am scared of what she is facing in the future, having witnessed her Mother, beloved Aunt and Uncle, and others going through the ravages of Alzheimer’s at the end of life. The last time we visited Joyce’s Mother (before Rosa passed away), while she was in the nursing home, she was in a tight fetal position on her bed and looked so frail. This visitation has never left my thoughts while caring for my wife. If you have experienced this situation you know what I’m saying is true; if you haven’t experienced this terrible scenario then my prayer will be that you never have to go through the pain of witnessing the sadness before your eyes as you watch a loved one fade away and knowing there is nothing you can do to prevent the final result. Thank goodness we have some good days together.

Has anyone on this forum applied self stick vinyl decal/accent trim to their painted aluminum boat? Interested in comments concerning application and how the vinyl trim has held up through weather conditions and freshwater boating. Also interested in company recommendations. Considering painting the hull white and using vinyl trim for hull accent. I would appreciate your thoughts and comments.

should not be any different than applying to a vehicle. No reccomends on a specific company

That’s about what I was thinking. Still, it’s a foreign idea to me so comments from boaters actually using vinyl trim are important to me. Thank’s for your thoughts, my friend.

Can you say “rain, flooding, strong winds, and more storms”? Repeat often. What a crazy Spring this year. I’m way behind on my yard chores and there’s a cedar gazebo kit waiting on the patio because there hasn’t been enough suitable weather so I can open the six boxes and seal the cedar wood items prior to construction. But wait! I did get a chance to work on the boat yesterday…for about an hour or so. Then we got hit with a very strong rainstorm and very strong winds! Same forecast for today and tomorrow. Sure glad we weren’t on a lake yesterday! Nevertheless, I’m ready and standing by in case we get some decent weather before the snow comes down again.

I would send some rain your way if I could, my friend. A drought situation can become downright dangerous culminating in multiple serious problems. As I write this text it’s getting quite dark with rain, lighting, and loud thunder coming in from Lake Michigan. Looks like we are going to have another “frog choker”! Take care.
