Hey Bunker - I wanted to see how the fix worked and now this. Had a similar prob on my 500. I was lucky and turned the shift shaft in both directions and it finally went back into place. I have no idea if your LU is made anything like mine. Maybe you could take the LU to a Merc mechanic and have it fixed and replace the seals while it's apart. Might be cheaper and better than getting a new old LU with problems, if you know what I mean, Good luck

Heyyou...no not messing around anymore. The impeller will be here next week. Please point out the good points of the trailer because I could use a positive opinion on that thing. It actually towed really well almost 200 miles home so I can't really complain.

douglas, I think the Merc is a really cool old motor. I would be just nervous with any other motor too. It seems the quickest way to sink a solid project is with a junk outboard.

dont even get me started on junk outboards brother ..... boy can i tell a story or 2 ... LOL

Love the ski pylon. now i need to look into mounting somthing similar to that. just hopefully I can come up with somthing more readily available and less expensive than your high dollar wood.

cool to see some of those N.M. lakes . i used to spend alot of time at the bute growing up. Dad still lives in the area and makes his way to alot of the lakes. just sent me some pics from a lake he was camping on just north of santa fe. he's got a pretty cool 79 bass tracker he hauls around with him.

And then it was gone, she will be missed. There seem to be quite a few tinny's out west these days. SC & other interesting rigs.

A father ~ son build would be great. Gibbles finds some interesting SC's up towards Salt Lake City, esp in the bottom feeder price range. Of course, I think he tends to grab those for himself:)

Hey Bunker,
You done a great job!!! Your boat looks awesome!
I have a 79' SS180 that I just started rebuilding. I'm doing a complete tear down and rebuild. Seems like the tear down is never ending.
