I'd love to see some pics of your Bimini in the water as I am curious as to how they look. :D :D

Please post some once you do get any :) :)

Thanks a bunch! :)

I forgot my camera the last time I had it in the water...sorry. But I will get some sometime soon. I have done a little more work to it, and the trailer.

looks great! I see you do not want to give your truck a bath each time you put the boat in ;)

When you had the cap off and the old deck and transom out, did you have any movement of your stringers or were they ridged against the bottom of the hull?

They seemed to be solid. I did have one that looked like it had pulled away from the hull at the front on the left side. Only about an inch back from the front. (not pulled away by an inch but about an inch in length had pulled away, kinda just cracked where it meets with the hull) I ground it out a little and put some peanut butter in it.

I have maybe about 12 inches that is like that. I'll do the same with the PB.

Thanks!

How's she been running for you?

Re: 1973 Winner Bimini 17' Trihull Rebuild

Apparently, I'm hell on motors. I picked up a Johnson Sailmaster 8 hp. motor so I could go on limited lakes. I tried that out today and I think the lower unit is going bad. I checked the oil and it's full, but it was making some horrible noises. After a while it quit. I was able to hook up the charging system to the battery and keep some juice going into it while I used the electric motor to get back to the dock. The motor runs fine but if I tried to put it in gear, it would jerk and stall. I'm taking it apart to see what happened. I guess I might be done for the year.

I found the prop was broken in a way that when in forward the shaft spun a little to much and pinched the prop against the face of the bearing housing. I took the prop off and ran it in a tank and it sounds great.

I finally remembered to take my camera to the lake with me. I went fishing with my nephew, I didn't do so well but he caught a couple.

hey there,Ksmith0110. I'd love to see some pics of that '73 winner bimini. I just got a '72 winner bimini, and it looks EXACTLY like that, color and all. I was told it was 18 ft.,but I'm going out to measure it right now. 17 ft. seems to be a pretty popular size. Thanx in advance:)

Re: 1973 Winner Bimini 17' Trihull Rebuild

Hi Im new to iboats also but ive been reading your rebuild and want to add my two cents. lol ten years ago i did a rebuild and
knew absolutely nothing. learned by fire . i ripped up the floor only to find...well nothing.. all stringers and transom had dissolved. lol... long story short i was working for a table linen service so i used table clothes to fabricate a whole new inside boat. Any way i just bought another boat after searching for one that was always indoors for the winter and had owners who tried to maintain the boat as best as possible. we will see... i pick it up tuesday and i will post my adventure from start to launch. BTW... question... boat motor trailer are all 1973. thompson 18.5 ft evinrude 85 hp. was this a stock item sold as bundle package?

Robbing: It's best to try & avoid posting in a thread that the original poster (OP) hasn't posted to in the last 3months.

At almost 2 years, it's probable that Ksmith isn't active, or at least not in this thread...

Once you pick up the boat, start a thread & ask your bundled package question there.

That way all the important details, Q&A's about your boat are in a thread about your boat. This will also benefit those that follow us to use your resto thread as a reference just as you have done w/ Ksmiths...

Welcome & once you pick up the boat & start a thread, pix pix pix. Use photobucket to post lots of pix:)
