Re: 1974 21' starcraft supersport
I bought the 1971 Islander yesterday. It's it good shape and the floor/ transom are sound. The person I bought it from took good care. He had recently rebuilt the engine and changed the crank shaft and put a holey 4 barrel carborator on it. He was in the process of changing the U joints, seals and bearing in the out drive when he took ill. Due to his illness he told me he couldn't finish his boat. The interior is white and red and in great shape. The hull is in great shape although the paint is only ok. The boat is painted white.
The boat has many extras - 65 lb minn kota trolling motor with wireless wrist control band, 3 anchors, stainless steel barbque, ship to shore radio, cb radio, fish finder, GPS, table, 3 batteries, 10 life jackets, 3 extra fishing seats, full canopy, traveling cover, springloaded mount for a kicker motor.
My friend and I are going to install the outdrive next weekend so I should have her back in the water in 2 to 3 weeks. My kids are looking forward to going camping on the lake.
I have never had an inboard outboard boat before so this will be a new experience. Any thoughts?
All my boating friends that have seen the boat think I got a great deal. My wife who only likes open bow boats (she really likes our 1969 Starcraft Offshore V) she thinks she will like the Islander. She also said "they just keep getting bigger" I told her my next boat was going to be a 48'
Grand Banks --- just kidding.
Sorry I don't have any pictures to post right now. I will take some this afternoon and get them posted for you all to see. When I was picking up the boat yesterday the guy I bought it from got 2 calls for the boat. One of the guys on the phone said he was willing to pay more for it than he was selling to me for. When he got off the phone he told me I could put it back on Craig's list tomorrow and make some money. He laughed........
He also gave me a second lower unit as a spare as well as a 12' tilt trailer.
