Re: 1974 Sea Ray SRV193

The large tubes of PL are actually only about $8 around these parts but if it keeps folks from using it and dealing with the mess I had to then we will just keep telling everybody it's $15/tube alright Wood! I mean I've seen lots of folks on here use it with decent results but I wasn't one of them... Part of my stringers are bedded in PL but I ended up with so many cracks from out gassing that I finished the other 3/4 in PB...

And BTW NOSKILLZ... If you'd really like to help I'd be glad to have the help... I accept cash donations.. those would "help" greatly! Haha keep on plugging away man!

At the end of the week I have a 2 week trip so I may not get any more work done. Ive got some testing I need to get done by the end of this week. I imagine if I don't any work it will only be some tabbing or clean some of the spillage.

Looks good! I'm glad I didn't have to deal with a transom that size!

Thanks Marada, it was unwieldy! When I was making my PB I was using a quart or more cabosil per quart of resin and it still wasn't thick enough!!!

Oh I can't stand trying to get that stuff mixed up... Working outside the wind ends up carrying most of mine away. It takes a good bit of that stuff to get the right consistency. Makes me glad I bought the bulk bag of it when I did.

I had so much trouble with the pl that I don't think I'd ever use it again bonding something to fiberglass with it... Ripping out a new transom made me go PB for everything... A little more costly sure but I know I don't have to worry about it!
If I may ask? what issues did you have with PL?

I was going to assemble my engine Sunday but the block was crack! To the salvage yard!

I feel your pain. One of my blocks is cracked, but it appears to be only external, so I did the JB weld patch to it, trying to find a cheap block for a 140 is next to impossible.

Thats why we upgrade! Found a block with what I believe is 80k miles and with flat top pistons (it does have valve reliefs though). Tomorrow I will start cleaning it and make sure it is good to go. I have access to a Magnaflux yoke so Im thinking I may check it out. Depending on the weather I may got back to the salvage yard and pull the GT40 heads I found, this may be a pretty peppy Sea Ray.
