Here we go again with another Starcraft.
Some pics of how she looked when I drove out to see her. Shes dirty, has a cracked block, questionable floor and transom but shes moving out of their barn in three days:)

Get her home, bgc! Let the tear down begin. :D Looks like a decent galvanized trailer under her.

If you can, take some pics of the helm seat. More than one Mobster has been asking how those work and the pieces that make them work.

Nice, another big girl in tinny dry dock.

Thinking you may have just spent more on new tires than on the boat.:cool:

The SC on CL thread appears to be a MBS enabler.:joyous:

Re: 1974 Starcraft Chieftain

The trailer is in great shape, only rust in on the brake drums! Its even got the factory hubcaps. I did see a post somewhere about the folding helm seats. Ill get some pics up.

Four 175/70R13's with a load index of 82, totaled 180.00. So Ive almost doubled the investment.

Shes going to stay "Butterscotch", heck I might even name her that.:)

Ha! I just happened to catch your last comment on your Jet Star thread...

I would be "Drawn and Quartered" if another STARCRAFT came home with me...

Looks like you didn't fare too bad there, maybe a little blood loss but you seem to be recovering eh!

Early xmas for the WHOLE family? Maybe?

If not ^^^ I strongly urge you to swing thru InMotion's Falcon rebuild thread & pick up some much needed advice. Good stuff there:
1960's Falcon Rebuild (New Title)

Good luck.

I'll be over here, hanging w/ Jas, watching: :behindsofa:

I wouldn't worry too much about it, after all, pain is only temporary and you'll get over it. Now the endless hours of enjoyment bringing that boat back to life will be well worth it.

:lol::lol: you haven't told her yet that you're about to park a destroyer in the driveway? and you're bringing it home in the dead of winter? you have great faith in her tolerance! i'd still locate sources for propane heaters before you bring it home, in case you get to spend the winter in it.

i hear a new Camry works wonders :)

EDIT: i just re-read your orig descrip: Shes dirty, has a cracked block, questionable floor and transom sounds like some of my ex girlfriends........

That's a boat load of total awesomeness! Good luck on getting her home. Please take and post lots of pictures before the Admiral gets home :fish:

I am really interested in that helm area as mine is really hacked up. I couldn't figure out why someone had cut up the plastic dash pad, but I see you have a gear shifter there.

Re: 1974 Starcraft Chieftain

Shes going to be furious, I'm sure of this, but I felt its worth the brow beatings.

The game plan is to keep the boat at the marine shop I turn wrenches at. The Admiral wont see her until shes being splashed.
My first objective is to find a block to rebuild and get the propulsion up to par. While the motor and drive are out I'll replace the transom.
Ive been looking on Craigslist at the junk boats with 140 MerCruisers. I'm hoping to find one that I can witness running but that's proving to be an enigma. If any of you guys have a lead of one you could pass onto me, I would appreciate it.
