I forget what kind of boat it is, but I'm pretty sure it says wellcraft.

This is the first V-Bottom I have had (or, even slightly V'd) so I am hoping it will be a much better ride than the flat bottoms, but I'll see.

anywho, onto the pics:

It came bearing a 1980's 75hp johnson that "ran"
Well a quick compression test proved otherwise. this was the good cylinder:

typical bad deck and a 5" section of a bad stinger, the rest are fine.
(the center stinger, between the 2 seats)

The foam is dry!

So, my questions. The good areas of the deck are really on there. Whats the best way to remove it? It seems glued/nailed down to the stingers very well.

The wooden area of the deck seems to only be 3-4' wide, the rest of the sides are fiberglass. this seem right?

Can I get away with only replacing a section of the bad stinger, or do I need to change it all? And whats the best way to get that out of there?

And why is the steering wheel on the left side?! I was sitting in it and it just didnt feal right having to use the lever with my left hand

Hay BigB9000, I know how your felling on the motor I had the same thing with mine my 3 plug was at 60 lbs !! check ebay for another one thats where i found mine !!

On to the boat , My frist question is how long do you plan on keeping her ?? if its just a year or two you can sister a piece of board to the good wood , and fibeglass over that , but I will bet that there is more rott in there , sorry hate to say that but its what i learned from mine and others on here !!

now if you plan on keeping her more then a few years your going to have to redo the stringers !! and I hate to push it but check your transom really well , take some samples with a drill !!!

So man she is pertty ride and its up to you how far you want to go with this , I know i didnt want to go as far with mine but am i ever glad i did she is build so much better then it was , when it was brand new !! John

Yeah, Ill tear into it next week, I travel for work monday-friday
(different city, different state, every week) so weekends are the only days I can work on it.

Transom looks to be replaced. outside looks weak, but my core sample turned out good. the rotted/bad sections of the floor go all the way back to the transom. if it is rotted, its only the bottom 1" (which, if the case, I'll replace)

I figured the engine didnt run, but I didnt care as I have a great running 115hp Evinrude to slap on it. I part it out on ebay to help pay for the materials.

Any tips on getting the fibreglased-in stingers out? and deck?

That's a fairly shallow vee.
I wouldn't expect it to ride like a Cadillac.
Will you be running on a lake?

True. But it won't be like off roading in a prius eather! (I hope) Lake and river. Slight chop, boat wake would be the biggest problem.

I used a 4 inch grinder with a cutoff wheel,Not the thick grinding one. This one is about the thickness of a dime. The glass dont tear them up like metal will.I have also use a saws all at an angle but you need to be handy with one.
I have heard ppl on hear use a skill saw set to 1/2 thickness.Don't go through hull it will upset you in a bad way.As far as ride It look like a Tahiti hull I rode in its not smooth but it was a blast.Run a shop vac in the direction your dust blows while cutting it save you a bunch of cleanup and might cut down on the itch factor.

Cut it down from the inside at a v clean off and cloth it in sevral layers.Yea I did it on my sidewinder and i cussed for days.Made me sick to look at it I still not trilled about it but it happens.Dont try to fix from out side I ran tape on mine then glassed it from the inside could hardly see it and didnt give any trouble for 3 years till i blew it up.

that white line that looks like a crack isnt. you cant even see it on the hull, just on the pic. its probably just light refelecting from swamp gas
