1975 50 hp evinrude outboard rev limiter Tachometer question.

I have a 1975 50 hp evinrude ob thats rebuilt brand new and i don't want to over rev it. Can Anyone tell me a good tachometer to use and were to hook it up? thanks

There's a ton of different tachs on the market so I'd find one that's reasonable and will easily install and use that. Treat it pretty much like a new one for the first 10hours and you'll get plenty of use of it. Good luck.

I believe the tach would hook up to the gray wire coming out of the powerpack if that motor has one. Just curious, why are you worried about over-reving it? Are you suspicious that your prop pitch is wrong?

I installed a tach on a 1973 50hp evinrude and it connected to the gray wire that was "dead ended" in the control box. Look for a gray wire with a loop at the end of it that doesn't go anywhere and connect it to the appropriate tach post. Tachs come with pretty good install instructions.
I believe the gray wire originates from the yellow wire from the stator at the connection terminal by the power pack? Not positive though.
