Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild
OMG! You did that PJ with Rattle Cans???? My Hats off to you My TinHeaded Friend!!! Fan-Freakin-Tastic!!!! WOW!!!! How many total cans did it take??? WOW!!! I'm Blown away!!!!! KUDOOS!!!!!
Yah, I have tried the HVLP guns but for me, they just add variables and extra opportunities that can go bad. Plus there is the whole running out of paint before I'm done spraying and needing to real fast mix up another batch aspect. Or the having too much and dumping what's left. Cleaning up everything at the end is a pain too.
Those Pro cans really do a nice job, great finish actually. The nerds at Rustoleum have already figured out all the proper mixtures and ratios for me. No adjustments to fiddle with or mess up like on a gun. No compressor to shoot water through the system or die half way through a job. Toss the can out for the clean up, so easy.
I counted 11 empty cans of top coat when I was all done. At Home Depot they actually offer Bulk Pricing of just over 4 bux a piece when you buy 12.
Apples to apples it's prolly just a little more expensive than a gallon of Rustoleum + Hardener.
But when I include the compressor, spray gun, air hose, water filter, paint thinner, more opportunities to mess something up/break (gun adjustments and compressor), and the clean up at the end.....
Yah, spray bombs aren't for everybody, but they work for this backyard boat builder hack (so long as my lighting is good:facepalm:

) (course bad lighting doesn't work for the HVLP either though)
