Hi all...
I figured since I have been working on the boat past few days I might as well start an "official" resto thread. I have a few pics to post when I came home the other day. However, my camera bit the dust. Lets just say (driveway+1 and camera-0). I plan on getting a new camera in the next day or 2. If resto turns out 1/2 as good as the others I will be very happy. I have made a list of things I dont want to forget and things I want to add while while doing the restoration. I want to apologize in advance for all of my questions that I will have ... cause for now Im full of questions and have few answers. Anyway, Im looking forward to the project... and the day I can take the boys out fishing and tubing. I paid $250 for the boat (no trailer, no motor). I think I did OK. I will be on the prowl for a 70-85hp motor while doin the resto. I am sooooo good at putting the horse in front of the cart... Im already wracking my brain thinking about paint colors... LOL. So.... heres a few pics of the day the SS came home. Yes.... I do already have a few questions:
1. I was reading about rivets and drilling them out... I cant find the thread anywhere does anyone know where I can read about how to drill them out and get the holes ready for new *blind rivets* is what they are called?.. I think it was 3/16 drillbit down the center?
2. How do you guys brighten up the aluminum... I think while reading Veil's Resto thread he used steel wool and comet or a non-abrasive cleanser.
Now for the hardest part.... decisions... hmmmm..........
- Do I go totally original with lounge seats? .. Or go with pedestal seats? I kinda like the pedestal however If I do that... what ideas do you do for rear seating?
- While rebuilding .. I like EZ's bow hatch access. I might go that route also at least in the very front or the 2 sides.
OK so heres the before pics (I think they are supposed to 640x480...right?)
(I swear its going to take longer to fig. out photobucket than restore the boat
)
