Don't worry, all that should be covered by the transom caps. Paint looks good. Next time, use the green tape. It's well worth the zillion bucks they charge for it.

I totally agree jay, spraying is the way to go. I have never rolled a boat but the finish you achieve by spraying can't be duplicated. I have to paint the topside and splash well too and your. pictures are motivating! I don't plan on finishing topside paint until this winter or next spring.

Looks like you are doing fine work! Keep it up.

Hey guys... figure I would post 1 pic. As my luck would have it our brand new camera broke after like 3 weeks :(. So Im back to cell phone pics for now. I will prob. hold off on some pics for a few days until we get another camera :(. Like I had mentioned a few posts ago....I would add a pic of my idea of leaving some of the splashwell as bare alum. Its the rear support, I think it looks pretty cool. Well I am much more pleased now that im done with the topsides paint and I have sprayed.

Well I put off buying some seats and vinyl flooring for a few weeks successfully. My wallet feels a little lighter.... however the boat will feel heavier with all the new gear:

The new seats:

I know... they are ok/so-so for seats... but its better than a 5 gal spackle bucket at this point :D... now that I'm on a shoestring budget.

You made the right choice with flooring. Your bare alum support will be nice. On my Jupiter that area had been replaced with chrome steel for some reason. Looked cool.

Hey guys.... did the vinyl today. Looks pretty good at least Im pleased with the results. Glad I went with the nautolex storm grey. In my opinion it looks a little lighter (color) in person than on any website I had seen it on. Anyway, I wrapped the vinyl about 1-2" up on the sides of the gunwales, bow and stern area.....I did this because I would like to lightly wash and hose out the floors after a fishing trip or boating. I think the solid vinyl from floor to edge would allow the water to roll off and out into the bilge area with minimal water intrusion into the hull from the sides and bow area (kinda like a shallow pool liner :D)

Hey Fellas..... just checking in. Ive been busy past few weeks with softball playoffs. My other hobby outside of the waterworld :D. And yes we made it the the championship game... but lost --- o well :(.

So I finished up the bow structure today. It was a lot more complicated than I would have thought. I did take the time to mark the holes on my new seat boards with the structures from the hull and bow aluminum support. That in itself may have taken more of my time... but I wanted to do it...in preference to drilling new holes in the supports.

A few pics:

I was very close to buying some black marine vinyl for the consoles, rear hatches and side panels... but ended up buying white. I plan on vinyling them in the next day or 2. I decided to use SS, #10 screws with SS finishing washers instead of rivets for any of the inside panels and structure. I did this in case decide to remove/reinstall any of the panels in the future..... Necessary, probably not... just something I wanted to do.

Thx DJ... it was just the basic indoor/outdoor cheap stuff at Home Depot. Im on a budget now... Im thinking of naming it the BOAH (bow, like bowtie), cause its been break out another hundred, every other day. (my takeoff on B.O.A.T.)

Thx GA.... was a shame too we went undefeated all season. Then lost the championship :(. Well try next year :D

Bow structure looks fantastic! Nice work. Thanks for letting me see that exposed fasteners aren't a bad thing. That should save me some time when I re-do mine and be stronger.

That bow looks great! I like the idea of using screws cuz it leaves your options open.

You have done a great job with the restore thus far. My bow area was put back together with screws by the PO. It is a wonderful idea, for those of use who like to make changes. Keep up the great work.

I figured I would post this pic for ya EZ. In case you decided to use screws. Its the best pic I could get with my camera.... anyway, It shows that the washer and screw can be tighten up so that its below the carpeting. It looks very similar to a rivet.

I had 2 non-working stern lights. Since they are like $35 for new ones. I cut old pole... rewired new light cap and created a working one :D. Hopefully it will work.

The lights... the pieces... the final product...installed 10 minutes (LOL ... sounds like a commercial - dont worry im not selling anything):

Re: 1976 Starcraft 16' SS (Restoration)

Well I actually got a few thing done today. I didnt even realize it was 10:00 until I ran out of some washers and screws and had to call it a day. I got most of the interior pieces vinyled. Let me just say I would have rather gotten a root canal than do vinyl work again.

Its messy and every time you touch something .... the glue seems to get everywhere. I saved the cover off the console piece as a pattern which helped a lot Im sure.

Cut from pattern (If anyone is thinking of re-vinyl, I would save at least 1 piece):

cut.jpg

Installed with finish washers (FYI, I wouldnt use the finish washers here, because.... when you tighten up the screws the washers cut into the nice new vinyl.... which stinks  since it took me a - FEW HOURS - to make them look decent): (I know...... my vinyl job has a few boogers)

installed.jpg

Heres a pic of the rear slider, I decided against anything fancy here.... just like the original:

front.jpg

Last pic.... I decided to get creative. I didnt want to create my own panels above the seats (with luan, foam, vinyl....etc..etc...etc..etc) While walking through HD... I saw the garage door molding. .. and thought trimmed up... it might just work...(anything from having to vinyl anymore :p):

garagedoorvinyl.jpg

It was cheap.. easy to install and looks decent.

Im getting there fellas... maybe a week at the most.

Hmm, that garage door vinyl looks great. Better than the metal with holes in it I'm sportin' now.
