Found it, "Drive Shaft Seal" Crowley Marine had a decent diagram. Hope I got it right this time (third times a charm).

Are you looking for the foam rubber "slinger" that sits right on top of the pump on the drive shaft? Usually part of the upper pump rebuild kit. Hope you got it on try 3.

Its not really foam rubber, it feels and looks like a piece of rubber tubing that has been cut. found it hear, Drive Shaft Ring this picture looks just like it. Crowley calls Item number 35.

I put the SS in the garage last night and put the lower unit back on (with the new water pump seal). Then I started work switching out an old, cracked fuel line that runs from the quick connect on the back of the motor. I took off the old fuel line and ran down and picked up a new section. I was going to put it on, but the Broncos took priority, and they won too!! Tonight I'll put it on and hopefully change the LU fluid. I'm bound and determined to get the tilt and trim bled this weekend, wish me luck. I'll grab some photos this weekend too.

The fuel line is replaced, the tilt and trim is bled (and working great). I bought a group size 24 battery box that I need to mount under the splash well and then service the LU fluid, hook up the battery and test fire the engine with the muffs. Then its off to the lake (fingers crossed). Sorry didn't think to take pics, I should have taken a video of the TnT working...

Plugging away at the inner workings is time consuming work that doesn't show up well in pics. Now having it all come together on the water is what it's all about. We'll hold you to the ppic promise when she's out on the waves again.

I don't know how many people care, but I thought I would let you know that GA moved this thread from The Restoration forum to the Starcrack forum for me a couple days ago (at my request). I'm not sure how the subscriptions work, but I thought I would mention it here. I spend more of my time over here at this point so I thought it would be nice to have over there with the other junkies. :)

Big news today, yesterday we started up the 850!! It sounds great. I attached just 1 video (but I took 5) if you go to youtube to watch you see me other videos too.

We had a couple issues but overall it did run well. The fuel strainer o-ring needs replaced (we had a little fuel coming out around the sides), and the female quick connect from the new fuel tank is bad so I ordered a new one.

And there apparently is a small learning curve on these 6 gallon plastic tanks. The fuel gauge has a small vent screw in the middle that needs to be open or you will suddenly get doused in gasoline when pick up the tank at the gas station to move it from the tailgate to the bed of your truck

Also, here are a couple pictures of the setup. The 10X10 shelter kept the sun off while messing around with it. All in all a great day.

It seemed to work when WM said he couldn't wait for the 850 to roar to life after the TnT demo. Now we have motorboat sounds. Next request - Splash her, 850! :D

The whole rig is :thumb:

If the stars align, next weekend it's getting wet. I still have a million small odds and ends to deal with but I think it needs a water shake down really soon!
