Ok guys, aside from being DWF lastnight, I did manage to get quite a bit accomplished yesterday, Not too ceretain how I pulled it off, but from what they tell me we had a productive day and some of lastnight, then the booze came rushing in, like niagara falls, LOL and I was in the barrel:D

Here is another small sample of what progress was made, but like usual, youll have to see it all in my photobucket.

Hell of a question, I did not ask the welder if there was more capacity than the old tank?

Ill ask him today, or if he is not in until monday, Ill ask him then.

Same size as the old one, and the old one held 18 gal, so who knows, but a little more capacity would be great though.

Re: 1976 tri-hull project

Well not too much to report today. Waiting on new sending unit for the new gas tank, pressure checked the tank- ~Air tight~. Tonight the motor mounts will be glassed in place,Welder is adding tabs to the tank today for mounting, also I need to get the aluminum from him to construct new dash panel. tomorrow is going to be a big day tohugh, tomorrow is dedicated to dash panel. But it is really beginning to take form.

~ Few new pics for the meanwhile, as always more inside photobucket.

Re: 1976 tri-hull project

I'm also working on a tri-hull/ (1972 Reinell) Looking at your pics, specifically the one showing the triangular piece of plywood up in the bow. Mine was glassed in the same way from the factory, i.e. you can clearly make out the plywood edge. I found stress cracks throughout this area, so in my restoration, I've filleted this area with epoxy mixed with ground f/glass. Not sure if this will help prevent the hull flex over 20 years that stressed the joint out....but it sure looks good anyway :) I went overkill as usual, and layed enough glass on all the sole/hull joints so that whoever rebuilds it again in 75 years will really be pissed at me. (I figure it'll last that long....) I paid extra attention to the bow area, as that's the most difficult to access for repairs once you get it back together again.

Damn, here in Oregon we're supposed to have 75 degree's this weekend, the salmon are running in the lower Willamette River, and the boats only half done.

We went a little bit overboard as-well, 10 plus gallons of resin, were expecting 20 yrs or so, LOL, Or like your case someone will not be verry happy w/ me, Man I'd love to see some pictures of your project, I have a soft spot for old tri-hulls, one thing I do know is it is, a hell of alot sturdier than it was, lol may even float now, I did like the idea of preventing flex, but she is sturdy now w/ a little give, so who knows, jeez cannot wait tomorrow we mount the new gast tank and lay carpet and get started on the dash panel already. Thanks man.

yeah that tank is sick...., it goes under the cap in open bow area, no my brother does fiberglass work, he is still learning, its only his second year doing it, but he is getting better, and he is under the watchful eye of a pro, who happens to own the shop, where all the work is being done, lol I do VPN so I can visit any site from home he-he, Thanks for the complimets, Im headed to the shop now, and later this evening I will have some more updated pictures w/ the days progress, WHOA!  , Whoa and WOW, I was just informed the mechanic also has a small portfolio on disk for me, which is really awesome, it means I will have the work documented that I either missed or was just too darn busy to get over there and see it. New pics coming soon, and I will find out what is entailed in his little video package;)

yeah duel batts on 3-1 switch i.e. 1 or 2 or both, gotta have it, my reserve battery charges by the alt, but powers the 700w v-power alpine amp, deck and the trolling motor, DUDE you gotta lemme see the LED lighting as I am very interrested in doing some interior lighting, you have a keen sense for custom w/ a budget really dig your work, so keep me posted!

~Peace~ from the 702

Re: 1976 tri-hull project

Alright* Finally we are getting somewhere, lol its really beginning to look like a boat or something!

today we got the sending unit on the tank, we got the carpet layed ( looks good ), we got the trim tabs mounted and numerous other tedious things, like new hose and hose clamps, new battery holders the kind that mount to the floor instead of those plastic black boxes, new fittings, new drain plug,*** Inspired by bear cuda, I was @ BW, and as we all know they are closing forever, so I couldnt resist grabbing the Garmin 300 c fishfinder, picked her up for $188.00 before tax, it has color screen duel transducer, aw folks, I can hardly wait.

Here are some progress pictures,as always more inside photobucket, lol which I actually took the time to organize, so go take a peek!

Nice work. The carpet looks sharp. Now it's you doing the work at this point correct? What's the deal on the shop where you're working?

Me and a few friends doing the work, @ the shop, however the pro's are still helping, mostly advising (which is a major help), and they are still reassembling the outdrive, doing the new wiring for the new dash panel, and I had them order a blue bimini top, so essentially we are all staying busy wrapping this thing up, the funny part is whenever I get to a point I think I dont need the pro's anymore, I find something else for them. The shop owner is really cool and he lets me and my friends work there while he is doing his part, so really I couldnt ask for a better dude! Honest, fair priced, and lets me work there, WTF, not even mentioning the insurance liability issues, has a few beers and has kick a55 BBQ's @ the shop. LOL Im happy.

How about it brother?, dude is cool as can be, he allows us to get other little things done, while he is taking care of the other stuff, not to mention he is just a cool guy altogether, infact everyone ( only 3 dudes ) is really cool there at the shop, and they got my future business that for certain.

Brutha Meadfisher...

That is one sweet deal... All my friends want to do is help me drink beer! Oh... And they watch me bust my butt! :p

But in all seriousness, the TRI is looking awesome! The Bimini is gonna look sweet on her, and that carpet color does look killer... Are you worried about the dark interior heating up in the sun? I seem to recall it's black? I'm heading over to your photobucket for some looks..

Have a great day!

She's gonna beat "SS Hurry Up" in the water for sure at this pace!

Well like any good project, Im certain I will find more to do on her, dark blue is carpet, but yeah it is deff going to attract heat, y only issue is any other carpet color would have not matched the boat, i.e. tan or grey, so I chose blue, yeah I can relate my friends like to do the same, but I typically have other ideas for thier time near the boat, lol, Rather than watch and give your opinion, jump right in and get dirty, and any slackers that dont, well they usually do not get invited to " comes see her" LOL. thanks for the awesome compliments.

Re: 1976 tri-hull project

Aw, the saga continues....

Today fuel pump was installed and the oil changed, new latches mounted on dog house, new drain plug installed, tabs to mount sub box put on, picked a up some new through hull fittings for the sides and the open bow, all kinds of new hose, from bilge, to vent we got it lol. Tomorrow is back to work on the top cap, which I have found somemore things to do on it, first we are going to reinforce near the open bow w/ new lumber underneath, and glass that in, finish glassing on cap where the railings used to be seated, gonna re-do that, w/ ne glass and drill all new holes for the rails and the rest of the existing metal.

Here are a few new pics in the meantime~
