DJ sounds like you need to get on the horn to freinds and familly and see ( who hasnt bothered to return ) your hoist . I would offer mine but I borrow my neighbors usually :D we swap tools back and forth pretty regularly.

Re: 1976 viking Deckboat build

well...now we are down to a bar hull...
got the center console out, the Ford 302 out w/ all the accessories and the intermediate OMC housing.

Thinking about taking out the PIP foam and replace with new also...not sure yet.

depending on the weather, going to haul the hull up to a car wash and spray out the interior of the hull to get rid of all the dirt and debris.

Haven't discovered and bad surprises yet. Did find out that the 'stringers' that the motor bolted too, do not run the length of the boat, they are only about 4 feet long. There are 2 other stringers further apart that run the length of the boat, plus 1 'stringer' that runs down the middle of the boat

I wish I lived closer to you! I would trade labour etc. for that drive package. I've got the same setup (1975) and would love a spare. Any time I've seen one in decent condition it's been already sold or didn't have the $$$. Good luck with your project. Lookin good so far! :D

DJ from what I understand thata 120 Merc sips gas :D. I priced plywood at 13.36 a sheet at Lowes today 19/32 which is close enough to 3/4" to me ( yes I held the tape to it ) just under 3/4" . The Larson is on Craigslist but I would make ya a deal on it :D.

Re: 1976 viking Deckboat build

thanks for the comment...

the wheels have been turning in my head lately on this project (i know...when i start thinking, my wallet gets nervous)

was planning the layout of the boat to be primarily a fishing boat....but have started thinking....if i get some removable seats from a minivan (bench seats and buckets) and recover them with marine grade vinyl....i can have the seats in there for when the family wants to go out pleasure riding....and then i can remove the seats when it's time to take her out for fishing......

and the wheels keep turning.....
