I took it to 50, but it wasnt trimmed out perfectly, nor were the props exactly on the money. im sure it could do well over 65. After all, its only 25' with an aluminum hull.

Started painting the bilge this morning. My goal is to finish it all with 2 coats before Christmas.

Well I finally got around to working on the boat again on Saturdays. Its been nearly 2 months because I've been building my new workbench at our shop, which I needed desperately. Its been dubbed by all the Michigan Motorz employees "Lorens Hobby Shop" lol :joyous:

Worked on painting the starboard engine parts today, and I also painted the new BARR exhaust manifolds I ordered up to replace the original Chrysler 318 manifolds. They've never been changed, and they were pretty corroded inside so I decided not to risk a hydro-lock situation so I ordered all new iron.

and....speaking of replacement manifolds....I found some old pieces of rubber impeller blades stuck in the exhaust manifold endcap. Glad i tore everything apart!

Clearcoating all the remaining brackets and pulleys in my new benchtop spraybooth. The spraybooth has got to be my favorite part of my new hobby shop, just because I used to take up our fullsize paintbooth to paint a couple pulleys and other small stuff. I installed a HI-CFM gable mount attic fan on top with a furnace filter to keep paint dust and spray down).

Finished one full coat of bilge paint this weekend, and also put the port intake manifold and valve covers back on. Starting to come back to life. Its getting warmer out and I'm motivated once again.

I think I'm gonna go back and apply at least one more coat of bilge paint, as there is some yellowing showing through from the underlying fiberglass.

Painted up the carbs today and got some new flame arrestors. I couldnt bring myself to putting ugly, dirty carbs back on!

The first two pics are the old Carter AFB carbs which had a lot of slop in the shafts. That causes a vacuum leak (and an annoying whistling sound), so I decided not to use them. I went with some Edelbrock 1409's specifically for marine, which are a direct replacement for the Carter AFB's.

Dont mind the dirty bilge. I will be putting two more coats on after we get some warmer weather. It got a bit dirty from removing the old exhaust manifold gasket material.

Thanks! I appreciate it! As for my workshop.....just plywood, 2x6's, and Interlux grey and white bilgecote. pretty simple build. You cant work efficently if you dont have an effective work area.

The Webasto FCF heating/cooling unit installation is also almost done. Just running duct work and plumbing now.

Other than exhaust manifolds and the port engine electrical, both engines are 98% done! I'm very excited that they look even better than I expected. Hours and hours well spent.

Remember how bad this bilge was????

And they're lookin' like factory new Chrysler 318's now

That is an awesome before and after transformation. I love the attention to detail in both the workbench build and the bilge rehab. I'm looking forward to following your work to completion.
