Re: Floor fiberglass help.

As far as I know you have to do it by hand. I just keep a bucket of warm water by me and dunk the sand paper in it and go. keep it wet and you will be fine.

yep, a bucket of water and i use a sanding block so you get even pressure and its easier to hold onto. just keep dunking the paper in the water and keep it wet and rinse the paper off at the same time then back to sanding again. you will be able to tell as it gets easier to sand and will just glide over it once you get it smooth, you do not need a lot of pressure at all and it will go quickly. just do small areas at a time

Thanks guys.
SO I just winterized her :( and I tried a little wet sanding.. Well, I wasn't quite pleased with it. I just did the 1000 grit. WIll I see a big difference from that with the 1500 grit and the buffing compound?

i did. once you wet sand it and do nothing else it is very unimpressive. but if you feel it with your hand it should feel very smooth compared to an unsanded part of the hull. just so you can have a quick sanity check, the same small spot you did, go over again with the 1200 or 1500 lightly rinse it off dry it off, do a small spot by hand with the rubbing compound followed up with the wax by hand. a small area should not take but about 15 minutes to do and you will see what the end result will look like. at least that has been my experience with it. good luck to you.

Thanks RR, I'll be taking a look atthe gel obver thanksgiving break if I get a chance. I looked at a 115 today that had good compression... I'm checking out a 140 (might be too much for this little boat...) in a few days... I can;t wait to get a new engine on her!!

Hi Zak,
Thanks for stopping by my thread...
You mentioned poly eats foam...even the pink/blue stuff?
Would wrapping it in aluminum foil be a bad idea??
Thanks,
