Still like Micks idea about a center console. Talk about complicating things.
Finished gluing the foam "packs" and moved them all to a trailer that's covered to keep them clean until I'm ready to install them. They are all labeled so I know exactly where each goes.
Vacuumed and blew the hull and rib tubes again, then cut some aluminum flat stock to rivet to the ends of the ribs that don't have braces so they'll all be the same height under the decking.
To pump or not to pump ? I would have sworn I removed an old dead bilge pump from this one - must have been remembering the Ouachita I tore apart last fall. If I do decide to add one, I'll have to drill a hole though the side and am not sure if it's necessary. That's something that could be added after it's maiden run.
Nice foaming work, that's the best way to do it.
Making the bilge opening in the deck larger is the the best way to have more access. Be sure to put the pump on the same side as the discharge port, which is best on the starboard side so you can see from the helm if the pump comes on or is discharging water if you don't wire in a float.
I added an 8" spin out deck plate in the SW over the top of my pumps (bilge & livewell) and added a bulkhead to attach a spin fuel filter inside as well.
I added one just in case
If your out and get some heavy rain or take a wave over the bow
There pretty cheap so why not
You could even go with a rectangular hatch cover that is sealed so you don't have to offset the round deck plate. I know your model boat isn't the same and has the single center knee brace in the middle.
Rule is a good choice and truthfully a bilge pump is the least used thing in my boats, both my Chief and SS bilge pumps have never pumped any water. I turn them on before every outing just to be sure they function and that's it.
That's me on the matter and then there's the guys who obsess over bilge pumps and have to have 2 of them with one being an emergency 1100 GPH Tsunami, you know "just in case". Well if you boats so far gone that you have to have 2 pumps then I'm afraid you'll have to start swimming.
Why is there a need to cover the bilge? Once the SW goes back in place you'll not see or even think about it until there's a need to go in and the fewer the obstacles under there the better.
Lost me on SW ?? My only thought was keeping things from falling in - or these old clumsy feet lol Actually, I'm thinking of putting a SS mesh plate in.
I've always had a problem overthinking and overbuilding things
SW = Splashwell, with the SW installed how would you put your foot in the bilge?
