The new owner of the Holiday (yes i sold it) may be keeping this sorry thread alive. Sounds like she has been splashed, no photographic evidence as of yet.

Re: 1978 Starcraft Holiday 18 Rebirth

Thanks guys. We are happy. Here are a couple more pics... Um I need help.

1970's 15.5' starcraft with a 1991 30hp evinrude. Electric anchor winch and davit in front will carry a 60lb anchor but a 40lb will hold well in Manistee river. This is a before pic. It has a new floor, carpet and transom now and is currently full of duck and goose decoys.

1989 22' crestliner 4.3 v6 merc alpha 1. This is also an old pic.

So I love boat projects obviously. lol. I hate climbing over the side of the boat 100 times a day while working on them though. The 15'er may go for sale soon. I bought it and used it primarily for fishing steelhead in rivers. I have fished lake huron, lake Michigan, lake stclare and lake erie from it. Ad stclare river and Detroit river. It's been a good boat. Very dry. no leaks. ugly but the fish don't mind.
The crestliner I bought for the big water and rigged it with riggers etc for salmon and steel. Fish out of Manistee Muskegon and lk erie in wheatley and Erieau in Ontario. The crestliner froze the day before thanksgiving in 2005. In 2006 I drove to Alaska and stayed for 2 months. So the crestliner sat and is still in need of repair. It popped a couple freeze plugs and cracked the exhaust manifolds. I am planning to restore it with new floors, console and a rebuild. I have no idea why I bought another boat. We were not even looking. That's what I get for taking my wife with me to look at the Holiday. lol.. She said we are not leaving without that boat. lol. I am happy we bought it though.

Brenn, I don't know if we can call it part 2 or like Paul Harvey used to say " And now the rest of the story"? Whatever it is We're not done yet. And like I said earlier, are you ever really done with a project boat? lol

Re: 1978 Starcraft Holiday 18 Rebirth

I installed the PTT wiring and relay box today. PTT seems to work good. I decided to mount the relay box under the hood and above the carbs. Zipp tied it to another bracket. It all fits.
I'll be back working on the dash tomorrow and install old garmin 240 FF. Getting close to fish ready.

Re: 1978 Starcraft Holiday 18 Rebirth

I put a can of seafoam in about 2.5 gallons of gas. We took it down to the lake and did some running around then we started fishing. I tried trolling but it just trolls to fast. Gonna look at trolling plates. We casted for a bit and I caught a small bass. It is officially a fishing boat now.

I installed a Garmin 240 FF in it today and when we launched it was working then it went into simulator mode. I messed with it for a minute and saw it said no transducer? I've never seen that. When We got home I checked and the transducer was clicking so I don't know. I'll try another transducer tommorow.
