SO...Trying to figure out where in the heck to mount some fishing rod holders for the driver and the passenger. I bought a couple more of these -

and I sat in my 16' last night for almost an hour, with a rod in the holder and could NOT for the life of me decide where to put the holders. I have a pair in the back already, mounted on the splashwell rail over the gas and battery area but the boat needs one for the driver and passenger. I would like to keep the same style, hence why I bought 2 more. I just cant figure out where. Do you guys have them up in that area and if yes - where? Probably should go to Lake of The Woods this weekend and after being in the boat for 10 hours 3 days straight I am sure Ill have a feel of where they could be located BUT I'd like to try and mount tonight before I go... Just dont like drilling holes in boats when I am not sure.

Thanks for any and all suggestions, thoughts, etc.

I hope you haven't been sitting and staring where to put those rod holders for a year. Welcome back, Chuck!

BTW - the pic didn't make in the post. I guess you saw some things are different in the forum, we're in the middle of a software upgrade with a few teething problems.

Hi. How are ya? Good Good.

So...lets just say we had a little issue up at the Lake of the woods and somebody I know, pretty well, has a leaking lower unit now - TOASTED housing... I have been looking for a replacement and came across this - http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/wsh/boa/4571070801.html

My motor is a 1979 85HP V4 - I am fairly certain these guys are swappable - DO I need to go over to the Johnson forums?

Thanks guys and YES - I got some JB weld on it and we finished up the fishing trip just fine. Lets just say the guy (buddy of mine) who was backing the truck up ALSO unhooked the winch strap without telling the boat owner and guy IN the boat he was doing that and you know what rollers do....YEP, they roll. DANG NABBIT. Caught the last 3 yards of CEMENT (See Cement and Aluminum dont work so well together) before the water. SIGH.

Anyways - she is still up and running but when it gets to -20, I dont trust the JB will stay put come spring.

I have a contact in Hackensack that should be able to assist you with what you might need for that motor. I know they had everything I needed for my '68 Johnson, not sure if they just specialize in certain years, but I'd think they'd be able to get you taken care of. Not sure if it's okay to post it here, so shoot me a PM if you'd like the contact info.
