Re: 1979 18' Starcraft starting restoration
I got some more work done on the Starcraft:
Painted the hull and trailer (I tinted the color to swiss coffee a little less bright white)
re-carpeted the wood on the trailer
added some 3M non-slip strips to the trailer
got some new trailer tires and rollers installed
ran new wires and threw out the crappy original steering wheel with a used Doni
wheel I found on Craig's list
painted the inside of the hull with the same M22 in
primed and painted the under side of the floor boards and installed
SS hardware in place of the galvanized bolts I had on the wood stringers
I used a wagner sprayer for the trailer and hull with the M22 thinned out about 10-15% with some dryer added.
Next up:
Paint the platinum grey trim band (Thanks Joey for the great color scheme)on the hull and all the other trim stuff inside, I will spray over the original pebble vinyl with platinum as well.
Design and install the forward seating area, I like the hinge storage doors and carpeted look, but I may go with vinyl, I have a guy in Oakland, Ca. that is good and reasonable. Anybody know where to source aluminum piano hinges that don't cost an arm and leg? Where is a good source for a straight pile carpet?
I will also redesign the gauge console but after some water testing. I will probably go with just RPM, water temp, oil press, alternator and gas gauges.
Here's some shots:
