I found it with Mark42's reply to a different thread. Disregard the previous entry. Thanks again Mark42!!!

Go ahead and pop the heads off. They gotta come off sooner or later anyway. Lose the KGB.... errr....NGK plugs.

Dhadley............. Just out of curiosity, why lose the NGK plugs? I plan to replace with champion plugs, as per the suggestion, but am just really curious as to why you made the suggestion, and for what reasons. Sorry if this may seem like a completely rediculous question, but me and electricity, we mix about like oil and water.........d:) ..........Thanks!......................ALAN

My replacement parts have finally arrived !!!!!!! So far everything looks to be in order. I have been scraping and scrubbing parts for the better part of a day now to ensure a nice clean rebuild. I've even read over the OEM manual at least twice now.......LOL.........and it's all I can do to NOT get in a hurry and jump on this thing. I'm going to give the block and all other parts, a final wash tonight and get things started first thing in the morning when I'm not feeling so anxious.....LOL......gona be a sleepless night tonight guys!!! Even though it appears my thread has been abandoned, I'll continue posting here with questions should I run into trouble, as I'm sure I'll have a few. Wish me luck !!!!

P.S.... I really like these Wiseco pistons! They look absolutely awsome! What I don't understand is, why the ridges in the piston walls?

You need to replace the damaged head. The massive pitting will create hot spots and can cause pre-detonation.

Yeah...... I don't like the idea of using it either. I'm still on the hunt for one, even though Mar-Fab deburred it and assured me it would be O.K. I keep checking E-Bay to see if one turns up, but I may have to, instead, check with some local shops to see if they have any on hand. Problem is, they'll likely want an arm and leg for it IF they do happen to have it. But, yes, I'll likely replace it. Too much time and money at stake to let something like that go.......huh?

Does anyone know of a trick to installing the retaining rings in the pistons without the use of the Special Tools Cone and Driver?

I need some more expert opinions here.............use it or trash it? Mar-Fab has repaired the head and said it should be OK for use. I just have a hard time believing I should continue using this. But then again........I've been wrong before. What do you guy's think?
