198? V-4 omc gearcase. driveshaft crank splines are bad, will a V-6 driveshaft fit.

I have a 198? something V-4 gearcase. it is in great shape except the crank splines are messed up. I have a 20" and a 25" 198? something V-6 gearcases. They both have busted housings. will the dive shafts from these work? If so what about the shift shaft? They are different part numbers, but they appear to be identical. maybe I am missing something.

A V-4 shaft wont fit a V-6 case as the V-6 is longer from pinion to upper bearing......

The bottom section of the V-6 driveshaft is quite " hefty " and this swap simply will not work.
