Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Jas,...

Around here we can drop off bad props to be repaired by a shop in Duluth MN,...Or buy a rebuilt prop and they take the old one as a "core",.....Cheaper way to stay in decent props,..

They would take the bent fin off and replace it,.....

Not sure if anyone does that around you but it's worth checking into at your local marine shop,..

No way would I run a prop that gnarly,....Even as a spare,....

I'm pretty sure I heard the islander whisper the other night.... "bout me"????!!!!

IM

Yah man, SHORT list! The bench/deck is going to be a bit of a challenge but the rest is pretty easy stuff;)

The Islander, she is one patient ol girl:)

Fantastic, now I feel like an amateur

Meeee toooo:)

J she looks really good! And what about the big girl? Love the enginuity u put into it as the guys say on Sunday football "cummon man"!

After the bow is put back in the case, and bambi is in the freezer, the Islander will move into the shop;)

Between all that sweet looking "Bling" and the best fishing buddies an old man could ask for...you gotta be riding high!

Enjoy the Bliss, "V.D.J." Jas...;)

Looking just great, Jas. And those little touches like the cup holders and handles are making it look more like a well thought out factory rig all the time. You are a true artiste!

Question about your mega-horn compressor there. Do you find you are kicking it with your feet? You could always move it up some plus it would be hidden from sight.

Cup holders, fancy cushions, and grab handles? Wow!!! The Nymph is looking like a sweet factory rig not a project boat. :D

Name guess - Dad's Minivan?

Thanks for the props guys, thanks a bunch!:D

Yah, that compressor is totally out of the way. I kinda like being just able to see it there too. Why? Well it's a compressor. In my boat. That runs my horn. That's pretty cool:D

Had a super morning of fishing fun, I'll see about some photos here in a bit...

Been finding my way around this site for last month. Sure am glad I came across your build. Been kind of a guilty pleasure watching what you have done. Great looking boat, funny comments and great information. Will be using some of your info and ideas while "tweaking" my new to me Alumacraft. Thanks for sharing your successes and set-backs, they are all worth following.

OK, first, I need to go back a little.

When I had to sell the Jet Star, that was hard. I took about six months of my life to rebuild her and loved that boat, she was sweet! Given the fat bill I was facing it was the right thing to do though. Hard thing but the right thing.

When she sold it kind of felt like it took the wind right out of me. I actually seemed to use that expression several times to my buds and family when they asked me about it.

"You sold that Black boat you just built? Really? Wough, bummer."

"Yah, like a kick in the stomach, knocked the wind right out of me."

I see that I even made mention of it here on iboats...

Here on the SmokerCraft thread at about :20...

So yah, that was very tough seeing that Jet Star towed away by another fella.

But! This Sea Nymph ended up being an excellent replacement!

And I think her new name is very fitting...

Hey, I'm new to this site and this build introduced me to iboats. I have eagerly waited for new posts an pictures, and I've enjoyed everything you've done to this boat. I hope your maiden voyage went as planned. Now please find a new boat to restore and get to work!
