My trim motor went out. I attempting to remove the whole trim assembly from the motor. The motor is still mounted on the transom. I removed the three bolts on each side of the trim motor/power assembly which keep it afixed to the motor bracket. I removed both pins from the metal shaft rod that runs through the piston eyelet; however, the metal shaft rod is seized in there. I tried hitting it out with center punch/hammer,Freeze Off, PB Blast and even a propane torch. That thing will not move. Any suggestions? Does the Motor have to come off the transom? uggggggggggggggggg:mad-new:

Looks like you got the pin already mushroomed out on that side and you'll never get it out with out grinding it off. If the other side is okay try a brass drift, a big hammer and some heat. May have to use mapp gas or acy/ox.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a buddy who is a welder. I'm gonna have him take a shot at it. My only fear as that the cast aluminum around that steel shaft will get damaged from the heat of acy/ox.

When you use an acy/ox torch on alum you have to know what you're doing. You heat the area around the pin and then try to drive it out. If the alum starts to puddle, you've got it to hot.

I got it out!
I used an Air gun hammer with a center chisel bit. It looks like a Drift Punch. It came out nice and easy. The Power Trim assembly took some jiggling around to come out but the whole assembly came right out with no problem. I'm glad I didn't have to take the motor off the transom. What type of fluid should i use ATF or hydraulic?

ATF Dextron II will work just fine.
