Hi Iboaters,
I am embarking on my first boat restoration project, a 1981 Silverline. We have removed the deck, stringers, and foam and are now ready to rebuild. During the demo we used extreme caution and all due diligences to make sure we did not cut through the hull??eh but we did anyway. We have a two inch long 1/8 inch gash trough the hull at one of the stringers.
That brings me to my first question. What special considerations do we need to consider given that the gash is where the stringer goes? I am inclined to put a couple layers of glass over the gash but I think that might be too much bulk in the groove we are going to put the new stringer in. what do you think, glass it or put in peanut butter with chop strand and then the stringer? I am also thinking it would be good to force some PB through the gash, let it set then sand it down smooth.
Thanks in advance for your advice
