Man you're SOOO CLOSE!!! GET IT DONE MAN!!!!! You've done some amazing work so far. Don't let that thing continue to be a lawn ornament! Get it out on the water, get some lines in, catch some fish, and enjoy it!

So have we reached the proverbial x10 timeframe yet? ;)
(I'm hoping this lights a little fire under your butt!) :D

Thanks all for the encouragement. Hired a fiberglass man and he started working on the fuel bays today. Think he will be finished with it tomorrow. This guy Tim really knows how to do it. What he did today would have taken me two weeks, "assuming I knew what I was doing!" I'll try and post some pics of the work tomorrow. This has got to be the best money I've spent in awhile getting the fuel bays fixed so I can get on with the restoration. Found out I was using the wrong type of resin and hardner for the work I was trying to do.

Sometimes it's hard for us guys to ask for a little help! Or in my case admit I don't quite know what to do...
Money well spent, Ron and keep up the good work. You can still finish while all the good grouper spots are producing! Or until they close them down again this year...:(

Here's some new pics of the fiberglassing that Tim just finished today but these are not the finished work. They are the work in progress. Tim is from Hudson, Fl and carbon fiber hulls, wings and custom jet ski stuff is his forte. Great guy to do business with.

Well it looks like my Grady yard ornament is back on the to do list. The fuel bays have been fiberglassed, aluminum tanks repaired and my motivation is revitalized! Haveing a new addition built onto my house and that will take another week or two and then priority will be back on the Grady. Thanks again to all the lookers and posters. Glad your around for the support!

The fuel bays are finished and cost was $540. Just bought a travel boat cover from iboats to keep the leaves and squirrels out. Hope to get back to work on the boad nest week. The house addition is going well and should be finished by next week-end. More coming soon!

Great work so far. I know what its like to have a project sit forever because other things end up taking up all your time. I started my project last summer hoping to be done in a few months. After a year and a few months, I still have a sizable amount to do. It will be all be worth it in the end.

Here's what's been taking my time for the last couple of weeks! No more working room in a carport! Now it's an almost finished dineing room. Now I have to "squat" in the sun and sand to work on projects!

Just read all 11 pages, LX -- outstanding effort. (Had to finish it at home...they seem to frown upon gazing at iboats at work for more than two hours at a time...:p)

My hat is off to you for tackling this, and like others we need to see that boat in the water. She's a gorgeous craft with great lines. Onward!

Hip, Hip, Hurrah! Took seven weeks but it's done. The dineing room is finished and the laminated flooring is down in the living and dineing area. Now I can start spending some time on the boat again. Buuuuuut you know what comes next! Xmas! Here's a couple of pics of the finished dineing. (Not exactly boating related, but I'm proud of it also!)

Oh yeah... I can relate. If momma ain't happy, aint nobody happy!

All good, Ron. The way time flies the holidays will be behind us and the boat could be the center of attention again. Progress, not perfection!

Once again, what a great thread. That GW has truly got some Carolina flare! The GW plant is 2 miles from my home and they have a worldwide market. It's amazing how great the GW's look on the water, both new and old.

I truly admire your persistence and dedication with this project... and I thought I had a big project replacing my deck! Thank you for posting such detailed photos. You'll be bluewater trolling in no time! Tight lines mate!!!

I just knew it!!!! "She" liked the new laminate flooring soo much "she" is making me do the den with new flooring. "Oh and while your doing that, just going ahead and re-texture the ceiling!" Does anyone else have a similar "she" in your life? Friday and Saturday I got 96% of it done and hope "she" doesn't remember the kitchen needs new counters and cabinets! Go figure!!!!

Re: 1982 GW, 24' Project (UPDATED W/PICS)

LX Kid,
The key there is the word She.
I had to explain to my son ( He's 35) how to translate some of there request.
My wife says she wants to clean the carpet. Translation: She wants me too clean them.
My wife says, she wants to clean up the yard. Trans, She wants me to clean it.
Wife says she wants to paint the spare bedroom. She wants me to paint it.
etc.....
My son now has a better understanding of his wife. Anything they want to do, means work for you.
At least I got her to quite loaning out me to her Church and friends for labor. :p
By the way, your work is great.
The boat looks good too.

Ron, that's just not fair.......your project was first. And after all you just started back up on finishing things!!

We need to compromise here...a week of work and funds directed towards the boat; then a week of same towards the floor....

Having had a wife or two and knowing how these things come out in the long run....good luck with the floor..:)

LX Kid,
Sorry to hear about your luck. :(
I have one of those wife things. I know when to surrender too.
Good luck with the floors.

Sure could use some cheeze with my "WHINE!" My time is coming soon. I think I'm gonna have to fain arthritis and dizzy spells. Do you think that will work for a while or will "she" make me go to the doctor to disprove it? Hmmm, I wonder!
