Hello,
I have a 1982 Johnson J70ELCNB that I have a question about. I recently purchased and installed a complete water pump kit, but found an extra O-Ring in the kit that I did not find installed on my engine when I took it apart. I see in the parts diagram that there's an o-ring that appears to go on top of the rubber grommet that sits on top of the water pump housing (part # 0326649). I assume that this o-ring doesn't just sit on top of the housing, but is to be placed somewhere on the driveshaft (near the splines on the top I imagine). The problem is that there was no o-ring on the shaft when I took it apart, and there's no obvious slot on the shaft where I would expect an o-ring to fit into. Can any of you tell me where on the driveshaft this o-ring goes,or if there even is one on this engine?
