Re: 1982 Sylvan Bassboat project

Ok, we had 90 degree heat today. I love it! I managed to get most of the other side of the remaining cross members and bulkhead pieces csm'd today. I also moved the cradle a couple of feet forward then bedded the remaining 1/3rd of the main stringers in. Not much visible progress but a lot of little things where taken care of today. I fully anticipate pb'ing the last of the main stringers in over the next couple of days. Oh, I ground down the extra from the last of the transom 1708 layers.

Ordering my under deck pour in foam tomorrow and I plan on picking up the deck plywood this week. hoping the next week brings a floor :)
No pic's cause not much changed visibly.

Hi CW,

I am stoked at the excellent amount of progress you are making.

Everything is looking AWESOME! You and your Son are doing Great work!

And I think the Transom is not just bullet proof, it looks BOMB-PROOF!

lol, OK guy's sorry for the lack of progress/updates lately. Summer has been nuts so far and not much of it has been spent on the boat lately. this week we are on vacation and I'm stealing some quick internet to check email. Gus my bro, I'm so glad to see you're back online. I can't wait to catch up with your thread you have to have been making some killer progress without all the iboats crew getting in the way  JBC, I find myself watching the roadside a lot these days for an Islander or Chieftan needing some TLC. Problem is I better build a pole barn first to work on one of those, my garage is too small for another project, lol

I hope everyone is having a great 4th week and I promise we'll get back at it next week when we get home.

I hear there's a neglected Islander down Midland way. Really nice guy. Partially restored, from total gut, tear-down. Has a real nice new deck and a 4.3L & outdrive already installed.;)

Maybe he'll let ya use his garage setup to finish it. Once his Sea Nymph splashes, there will be room in the garage & it'll be under-utilized until Fall:D

Maybe you've seen him @Iboats, goes by Ja........

Have a great vacation. Sea ya when you get back:)

What type of plywood did you wind up using for the stringers and transom? I have to redo my 80 Monark to the extent that you are redoing your boat. I have done lots of reading on the topic, but there is LOTS of heated disagreement when it comes to the topic of plywood and what type to use.

Sorry for the late reply jrotten, I been neglectin the boat and my iboats brothers lately. We used exterior grade ply from home depot. We figure it'll out last us with the glass job we're doing.

Welcome aboard by the way.

SP & GT1M,

Sorry guys, it's been a hectic busy summer. I give you all credit for keeping up on your projects. Between family vaca's and work I have been swamped. Not to mention some idiot decided a 30x40 ft garden would be a great idea this year

Thanks Gus for reaching out and reminding me I was neglecting my pals on iboats. I'm slowly catching up on everyone's progress and hope to have some updates of my own soon.
