OMG  I have caught up on this thread and I can't believe you are still not back to that boat. :D

If anyone understands life's unscheduled intrusions, I sure do. I will be anxiously awaiting to learn more from you CW and the crew. All you guys out there, don't overlook projects with the girls in your life. My Grandfather had me under the car when I was 8 yrs old working with him, and my other Grandfather and I built a full bathroom onto their house. Those experiences have shaped me in so many ways. Now I am here learning from all my big brothers, Uncles and Grandfathers. THANK YOU ALL!

CW, I like how you take pictures of each step. I am trying to get my photo work up to speed with each step of the restoration. Good work. aj.

Welcome aboard aj! Yeah, this summer has been crazy. Next week the kids all go back to school and things should settle down again. I am hoping to get back to my Trooper routine of something, any little thing done on the boat every day again then.

Until then you all will just have to suffer with the one pic of forward progress I do have

Yup I think this little tow vehicle upgrade should do the trick :)

on a sad note though, my constant companion for the past 15 years had to be put down Monday. :( Bear lived a good and spoiled life and our family will not be the same without him.

Heading out of town tomorrow for one last vacation over the holiday weekend with the family. Then I PROMISE we'll get back to work on this project.

Have a good labor day weekend everyone.

Really sorry to hear about Bear. Had to put down 2 of my dogs 1 month apart. They where with us for about 14 years. Still have 1 left and he's almost 17 years. Hate to see when his time is up. Wife took the first 1 so hard we had to close the office for the day.
I truely know had hard it is to lose a close companion.
Like everyone else has said, the tow rig looks great. Hope to see the boat behind it very soon.

Craig, So sorry for you and your family's loss. Every day I wonder how much longer we have. Ours are 10 and 12. The 10 yr old is a shep mix with really bad hips. These apartment stairs are just plain hard for the girls. The 12 yr old is blk lab and while she is older and slower she manages pretty well. Neither of them care for swimming though, so I am really excited to take them in the boat. I won't have to worry about them jumping out. Just in case though, I have doggie life jackets. :D Excited to see you get back to work on the boat. Really picking up some nice tips here. You make it look easy. Well off to walk the dogs, then unclamp and start sanding the transom and prepping for glass! aj

Re: 1982 Sylvan Bassboat project

Thanks all for the kind words. I have to admit it still hits me at the weirdest times. The other night I actually forgot he was gone and went looking around the house for him. It took me a minute to realize he wasn't here. I still can't bring myself to go work in the garden since he's been gone. It used to be our daily routine when I got home from work, I'd change and then we'd head out there and he'd lounge in the sun near by while I picked and worked. It's just not the same. My wife and I even discussed getting a new one this weekend because we both can't believe just how much we miss him.

Today though, I finally got back out into the garage and started getting it cleaned up again to start working on the boat again. Holy carp  how did I collect so much junk in there this summer? Oh well, at least I'm finally getting back at it.

Happy hump day folks.... I think we'll have some real updates on this project soon. :)

Whew, there for a minute, I expected a Bear-esque bailing on it post when you said to sit down. Whew, that was a close one.

If you're only going to do 1 board, do it well. So ya done good!;)
