Yep an extra 1" of insulation is always better. Cold stuff cold, and less heat transfer into whatever's in the well.....

Does that mean your Hamster's brain is twice as big as mine??? My grandaughter Likes your PINK foam. She wants me to paint the Blue Flamingo PINK cuz she says Flamingo's are PINK NOT BLUE!!!!

I am glad to be lagging behind, let's me soak up much hamster food...

I really like this method of building up the wells and coolers, I think I saw this some moons ago on one of Jas' builds...Like he is fond of saying..."looks bomber strong"...

BTW, anybody know if Titebond would work for the foam/ply lam-ups?

Your progress is not only looking awesome but super fast, too.

Nope, you'll never hear me say that Wood. I rely on your hamster way too much. I only took your idea and expanded on it.

I really think you need a pink Flamingo to go along with the blue I think they like to hang out in flocks don't they?

Decker, JBC & Troop - Thanks and it was just the closest heavy inanimate object, I was going to sit on the stack until it dried but I could reach the garage fridge for adult beverages from there

Gus, I believe it should work just fine with the foam. Check the container but I'm using the liquid nails equivalent with no issues, plus way back in the day we used to use either tightbond or liquid nails when roughing in houses and that included putting up the foam when needed.

Yeah, I think I saw that on one of JAS's threads as well and he is right it is bomber strong.

ok, not much to report on the weekends progress. I did look at the boat if that qualify's? It was a busy time in the Weaver house this weekend so what free time I had I spent in the woods hunting. Oh... I did make one good score. I found a topper for the tow vehicle on craigslist. I spent a whole $25 on it. Here's a pic and yes I have all the windows. I have them out to shoot it with a quick coat of paint, hopefully next weekend.

hopefully now that we're back to the normal work week I can make some progress on the baitwell and front fishing deck.

thanks guys, I'm gonna paint it black. That way it will look ok on my vehicle as well as my son's 94 chevy. (conveniently we both have the same size box) It's only going to live on there occasionally, like when we go to deer camp. So I don't need a color match. I just want it not to stand out so much as white does, lol

Ok, now that the work week has begun I finally have some time to work on the boat again, :facepalm:

Tonight I took all the previously glued sections of the baitwell/cooler and taped them together, next we cut out the second layer of foam board and taped that up. Hopefully tomorrow we can get the outer skin for the whole thing cut out and if all goes well get it glued up.

oh, in case anyone is wondering. We have made the starboard end an inch deeper than the port end so we can put the drain at the lowest point.

CW, its been awile since I've replied on your thread but I've been reading all of the great work you've been posting. Lots of detailed info here for sure. Good stuff about the cooler so far. I know Wood and other iboaters has gave ya some tips, but you follow through to the fullest.

I will test that like you suggest. I can mock up a section with some scraps. I'll share the results here.

Ok, on to this weekends progress.

Friday night my oldest son shot his first buck with a bow and I spent all evening Friday and all day Saturday looking for it. He hit it high and forward (I think in the shoulder) and the blood trail was almost none. He's pretty broke up because we couldn't find it but it sure wasn't for lack of effort. Everything we had planned for projects was put on hold for 2 days.

I did manage to finish putting the outer skin on the front baitwell,

Then I had to move on to the topper project. We have 3 weeks until deer camp and I need this thing ready to go. So I rough and scuffed it with some 220, taped off the windows, covered the boat with plastic and put down the first coat of black on it.

If all goes well I'll get a second and final coat on tomorrow. Also, I tried the new paint line from TSC on this project. I used their paint, reducer and hardener made by Majik Paints. I'll give a full review after the project is complete but so far not too bad. One thing I'm intrigued by is they have a clear coat to go over their oil based enamels. I'll be giving that a try at some point. Not sure if I'll have time before I have to put this back together for deer camp but we'll see.
