Got it, I just wondered how you are getting that grey color. It looks real smooth, and that is very important when it comes to laying down fiberglass.

Are there any drain holes in your bulkheads? I didn't notice any in the pictures, you want to be sure you have a way for any water that may get in to drain back to the bilge area.

well if you look in the keel of the boat that round thing is a piece of pipe that runs from fore to aft there is already one hole in it where the drain was built in for the entrance to the cabin and there is one in the rope locker in the forward cabin. so I am going to add an additional hole in the pipe at the bilge bulk head also I am going to put a few stratigic holes in the stringers and glue pipe pieces to drain to the center Also I am not going to foam the center section of the boat for 2 reasons 1. drainage 2. prevent damage to the gas tank

it is very smooth and it is nice because it comes premixed up almost like bondo ... just add MEKP stir up and apply the grey color just depends on what resin you are using some resins are a grey-amber color this resin that I am using right now is a light pink color

Hey..... I got the recipe for that Hull and Deck Putty..... its not rocket science but here you go.

Start with half a gallon of resin
add 3/4-1qt of MILLED fiber
Mix well
add cabosil and mix until a little too stiff
then add resin to thin
repeat till you reach just shy of one gallon
if you want to make a larger batch and store it for use mix proportionatly as above and add a VERY little ethylene glycol (anti freeze) which stabilizes the mixture in creases viscosity and keeps the cabosil in suspension the technical spec for the glycol is .25%-.5% by weight of the mixture so a little goes a long ways

So I am about to cry... So I thought i was going to be able to reuse my old fuel tank .... and then I went to go clean it up to give it a coat of paint and I found a **** load of corrosion that was deeper than I thought. The problem with this is by the end of tomorrow I am going to be standing around waiting for a fuel tank before I can finish the project MF' ME

well the new gas tank is ordered.... get this the tank was 510 but the shipping was going to be 194 WTF... so I will be driving to go pick it up in new jersey ... in other news all the stringers are in and glassed now I just have to pour the foam and do the floor... but waiting for the new tank which won't be ready for another 4 days GRRR.

Re: 1983 Formula F20SC

well the restoration is done... only one week behind my memorial day objective which is not bad considering the fact that we had 3 straight weeks of rain... the new carpet was installed yesterday and then I put in the seats and reassembled the interior and then today I tried to go for a ride and guess what ... a new problem... the motor surges under load at around 2500 rpm so the boat won't come on plane... ARGGGG....

Sorry a little discombobulated ... my nephew passed away yesterday he had a siezure and didn't recover ..... he was 4 ... I worked like a madman yesterday till long past dark I am going to name the boat after him in his memory.... but I wanted it done so I havn't taken any photos yet ... I just feel drained..... and useless I am 500 miles away and can be of no help to my family

Re: 1983 Formula F20SC

..... possibly good news.... I think I found the culprit for the surging/dieing at high rpm ... took the fuel anti siphon valve out and it was COMPLETLY plugged with debris .. it is new so it must be junk from either the fuel fill line when I connected it or some other piece of the fuel system... going to try to go for a ride in the morning I will keep you posted also tomorrow I will upload the completed photos as well as a few that I took in the middle ... I will say I was a slacker towards the end and didn't take many shots

Re: 1983 Formula F20SC

SIGH ... engine issue is not resolved..... Here is what has been checked so far.... Removed anti siphon valve.... changed fuel filter.... checked timing... dissassembled carb and check float levels and free movement of needle and seat... checked timing again... ..... tested different engine trim postions.... the last thing I tried was bending the arms of the secondary valves just slightly to allow the fuel to begin flowing a little sooner

also here is a little more detailed description of what the boat is doing along with todays observations.... the engine starts and idles fine and runs fine until between 1800 and 2200 rpm and then the RPM's drop and then rev back up some and then drop and rev back up some... this seems to be happening just as the secondaries begin to open. Furthermore it begins popping out of the carb ALWAYS the CARB never the exhaust. I am at my wits end at this point there is so much new stuff on the motor I do not know what to do next. It has new heads, new distributor, new manifolds. It seems to also be burning a little oil but that could just be surface oil as I had an oil leak. I am also going to post this in the engine help section

My prayers are with you and your family.

An idea you might want to check. My Glastron did the same thing with the old engine. It turned out to be a bad coil. I replaced the coil with a MSD blaster and problem solved. I also had a pretty gross looking spark plug too.
