Just like new! Good luck fishing, we're just heading up to the boat for the long weekend (Canadian Thanksgiving here) and the boats are hauled out next Saturday :(
Happy boating all!

Nice job so far! Have my eye on an '88 2455 project myself..

Those slotted brackets on the side are for Perko rod holders. My old boat was littered with them. Almost obsolete but bass pro carries them still...

Thank you duped! I'll check out bass pro for the rod holders. I'd like to use em' if the brackets are there. I had no idea what they were for....Thanks!

John Have a great weekend! My buddy hasn't called me back yet so I may go fishing by myself. Or just tinker with the boats! lol

Re: 1985 Bayliner 2450 Ciera Sunbridge Restoration underway!

Not much to report.....Been raining all week here in GA.
I did however take out the boat for a while! The stern didn't crack and fall off the boat......Yay! Everything held fine and sealed up well. the platform is much more solid now, a bit too chilly to swim lately but I used it several times to "relieve" myself. (the mrs. too)
She found the new stern railing handy for hanging on. lol

Anyways, I'm hoping to get out tomorrow and drum up something for the seating area. I'm hoping to get that and the interior cabin upholstery done over the winter. (if you can call it that here...)

I hope everyone is doing well.

Jimmy,
great thread.
i am impressed with your progress.
nice reading.
so you used 4200 for the windows?
i gotta do mine as one leaks a little with all this rain the last few weeks.
did you scrape and recoat or pull out and reset?

i have the same seating arrangement in my rinker 250 fiesta vee as you started out with
.rinker fiesta vee250 2.jpg
and i really like the idea of opening it up like you have.
i also like the idea of a small sink where the drinkholders are.
i fish alot also and am interested in your interior(above deck)
could you post some pics?

i am heading to the boat tomorrow (mechanical issues)and will try to get some pics of my ss railing with wood tops on stern
and seperate sides.
i gotta mount the rod holders but the stainless and stained wood looks great and they compliment eachother.
the mounting is the same , on deck bulkhead as it is under wood railing.
i hope this helps
will post pics tomorrow weather permitting.

cant wait to see the new layout

Mark

Hi mark! thanks for reading....
Yes, I used 4200 on the windows. I completely removed them, scraped off all the old crap and reinstalled. Kind of a pain in the bum kinda job but NOT too difficult at all.
Man! Your cockpit area looks VERY similar to mine! Wow! I really like having the extra room to move around, I just need to build a nicer seat set up. It was so tight trying to squeeze betweeen the captain chair and the L seat. Now, I have room to move all around without that darn seat in my way.

I'll get some pics up of the above deck area.
Take it easy..

Guys,
I'm browsing around and doing some research on Air conditioners to use aboard. A "roof top" style one placed over the bow hatch seems like a decent set up. Anybody have experience with these? or recommend another solution?

E bay normally has a large selection of used units. I had to big a pain with my last carryon air I dont think I will ever own another one.

Re: 1985 Bayliner 2450 Ciera Sunbridge Restoration underway!

proshadetree,
Is it the weight of the carry-on's that bothered you? I found a coleman marine roof mount ac that appears to be "semi-permanently" mountable.
Then of course, the carry-on type. I also found household portable air conditioners that are fairly small and self contained. I dunno about using those in a boat however.

http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-air-conditioners/marine-air-conditioners.htm

A complete permanent marine AC system will be about double the price of this unit.
Any way I go, Air conditioning in the boat is going to cost a lot of money. I want to make sure I spend it the best way I can.
(that's a sophisticated way of saying that I'm cheap) :D
Any thoughts?

John,
are you going to permanately mount to hatch window?
or make another hatch for it?
you have peaked my interest with this.
i would love to have an ac unit also
if i was reading correctly that unit was around a grand
plus the accsesories

ever think of getting a used unit?
i saw a used one on cl for 500

if i wasnt dealing with repairs i woulda picked it up

Re: 1985 Bayliner 2450 Ciera Sunbridge Restoration underway!

just looked back through
your previous rail is the same as mine.
is the wood in good condition?
my vote is to leave stock.
nice mounting height for surface mount rod holders
makes it easy to get on the swim platform under the other rods to net the fish. no fire drills lol
for that same reason i would also keep the side rails with wood tops.
driftmaster makes a nice flush mount rod holder you can mount on top of the wood rail
when holder is removed flush mount is around 1/8 in

http://www.driftmaster.com/Rodholders.html

after fixing the stern gap and doors that rail will be a piece of cake
(besides that will give you a chance to get back to the vapors:D)

Re: 1985 Bayliner 2450 Ciera Sunbridge Restoration underway!

I like those rod holders you posted....
The stern rail was completely missing from the boat when I got it. I've seen others with the rail intact and I do like the looks of the wood. I will leave the side rails missing as I like the access in and out of the boat. (loading/unloading passengers, kids jumping overboard to swim, etc)

No work on the boat to report... I Just upgraded my network and practice management software at work and been super busy getting it all going properly. I'm so tired of being on a computer by the end of the day, that I just haven't wanted to get online. lol

I WILL get something going this weekend. It's supposed to cool down here in GA this week......
have a good one everybody!

Sorry i am a slacker. I did not like the way it mounted and the pull it off out it on scratched up my boat. It was stored on dock and was a pain to get there without fear of dropping it in. The used market is what I was talking about for onboard air. Many great deals from larger junked boats. If you e-bay find a reputable seller.

Re: 1985 Bayliner 2450 Ciera Sunbridge Restoration underway!

i am thinking of removing the L seat at least the part that faces forward
or...
i saw somewhwere a seat that folds or slides outa the storage area under the forward facing L
it kinda looks alot like the stern seat against the railing facing forward(in that you insert bottom supports the same way)
but it looks out over the stern (the important part for fishing anyway)

are you making any progress on your project?
