it doesn't look like alot of work, but man most of the machine screws holding the rub rail channel on were stripping, had to drill them out and grab them with a vice grip. alot of rivets to drill out also

Nice! I just got my old man to buy the "2nd boat" :p Saves me spousal issues.

nice, EZ thats the best of both worlds. down here the gulf is very flat and shallow. after 12 ft of water you almost have to go a mile to get another ft of depth. but every once in awhile you find a honey hole. having the 2 boats just means i can get to more fishing

Sounds like Moreton Bay here in Queensland. Although there are deep channels, most of it is shoals and sandbanks and it's "interesting" at low tide! Almost every boat up here has "been around, been aground" witness marks on props and skegs. :(

The second boat idea is one I'm tempted by, however SWMBO has other ideas!!

Nice pics Joe...those gar really do look like baby alligators:D

Did you get them on bait or lures?

Glad to see you out on the water, that Lonestar is a nice old tin can.

Hey...congrats on the latest edition to your family...where's my cigar? ;):D

Gar make me go Grrrr, always break off on me.

As to those leaks, I've heard there's an awesome forum with lots of friendly knowledgeable folks, but if I recall you need to belong to some sort of club or cult to participate :p

BTW, nice to see others here from the 'greybeard' academy :D thought I was alone for quite a while.

Wouldn't want to go skinny dipping with those things on the water. Might lose something important.

Cool looking "dinosaur" Joe, and I thought we had our fair share of oddball fauna! Great looking little Lonestar too - congrats on your new baby!

Re: 1986 21 ft starcraft cc restore

i've got a few boards cut for the start of the deck. because of some rain i'm coating them in the garage 1 pcs at a time. i started on the bottom first and was wondering about a form of grip for a non-skid surface and decided to experiment alittle. i coated the flat surface and edges then charged up my sandblaster and sprayed a thin coat of sand on it... i like it. it seemed to bond really good. alittle ruff but i think a coat of paint will mellow it out.

any thoughts

Wouldn't want that poor fish to think he just saw himself in the mirror :)

My Durabak order will go in tomorrow so I'll let you know what it's like when I get it in.
