Re: 1986 Bayliner Trophy restoration

Does anyone have any suggestions on putting a livewell(s) in a bass boat? Where do you get them? Any suggestions on installation? I think the previous layout had the livewell in the bow area. From what I can tell it had plumbing from the livewell to a thru-hull fitting in the transom. I didn't see any discharge opening tho. So maybe you just fill the livewell and aerate the water and empty it after you pull it out of the water? The only thru-hull opening above the waterline is on the right side at the back. I'm pretty certain that is for the bilge.

I sorta need to figure some of this stuff out before I get too involved with putting the deck in it. The guy said the plumbing ran down the center of the hull under the deck.

my brother put a laundry tub from home depot in his boat and plumbed & wired it up as his livewell. Did not work. Turns out some bait will die if you do not have a round live-well. The shad he used for striped bass was one of them. They bang their heads into corners when swimming circles until they die. Point, is, make the livewell fit the bait instead of the boat.

Go over to Catfish1.com and lookin the restoration/mod forum. Most of those guys build thier own livewells in thier catbuggies.

Is there any place on this forum to post something for sale?? I have 3 sets of heavy duty boat hinges that came with my boat that I won't be using. I thot if anyone on here is custom building any seats or anything, maybe they would like them. Any thots where I should post them? Or do I just post pix of 'em on this thread??

Alright...on the gel coat. It looks like it is wore off right there around the keel. Any suggestions on a quick inexpensive fix? I'm trying not to sink too much money into this restore... I'm open to any and all ideas but especially ones that aren't too costly! ;)

Ok here are some seat hinges that came with my boat. I don't have any use for them but thot maybe someone else on here might. They are very heavy duty and would be great if you were making a custom seat or something. They measure approx. 6 1/4" from front to back. Here's some pix. If anyone is interested - let me know!

Is there a good way to fix that worn spot on the gel coat? I dont think that it's structurally weak or anything but I basically want to fix the cosmetics. Could I get by with just repainting it??

Hey guyz! Just lettin ya know that I decided to sell this boat instead of fixing it. The outboard is blown so Im parting that out and just gonna sell the boat. I dont have a lot of time right now to fix a boat and I dont really need 2 fishing rigs. :) Figure I can get my money out plus some hopefully if I get rid of it now before I dump more in it.

Craiglist is the place I would suggest to you. I love it and use it all the time. In fact my motor just pooped out and so I went to craigslist and found a boat with an incredible trailer and an 85hp Johnson on it '76. I bought the whole package after testing the motor for only $500!! I took the motor off, put it on my boat, put my boat on the super nice trailer and, and then turned around and used Craigslist to sell that other boat on my original cruddy trailer for $300 in one day after posting it! So for $200 I upgraded to a great trailer and got an awesome motor that pushes my 16' Starcraft super sport 1972 model 42 mph!!!
Cant beat it
