Re: 1986 ss 201

Only a good memory on things that don't really matter. Ask Mrs. Boater. :watermelon:

I hear you there GA, I get the same thing from the Admiral.

I had a real struggle with how to put the Nautalex down, it is only 73" wide and the deck at the rear is 79" . So there is no way around having a seam. I thought long and hard, there were two options one seam down the center or one slightly in from each side. If I would have gone with the seams on the sides the would have tapered to nothing about midships and I think an eye sore. According to Nautalex all seam have to have a mechanical secure as well as glue. I found a real nice brushed aluminum cap for vinyl home flooring that will work perfectly with stainless screws. There will only be short pieces between the DH and ski locker, the fuel access holes and the floor storage compartment. I installed the Nautalex with 3M Spray 90 HD addisive, and it was super easy and holds real well. I only used two and a half cans for the entire floor.

Heres a couple of pick how the flooring looks, I love it.

Glen,

Looks terrific! Question... Did you spray the spray 90 on the vinyl and the floor or just one?

When I did my pontoon. I found Nautalex 96" wide. It was real pricey though. I ended up going with carpet for less than half. Brian

Hey Brian, I checked all over Canada and I can't get it up here, and they won't ship from the US. I don't think seaming it is a big deal. I am going to seal the aluminum strip real well when I screw it down.

I think your floor looks great. The seams are no big deal. I just wanted to let you and others know it was available in 96" widths. Brian

That is a great looking floor job. Seam? Uh, what seam?

I used the 3M 90 in some places on my Chief, mostly on the carpeting and it worked out great but when I did my hatches I used it on the Vinyl and didn't have the same results. There are edges that were the Nautolex was trimmed off flush to the edge and it lifted during the summer. Maybe I didn't let it set up long enough??? One of my winter projects is to reglue and I think I'll use my left-over pricey Nautolex adhesive this time. I used it on my deck and it's holding well.

Mega roomy and I love the blue!

Hey Glen,

Maybe I missed it, but what did you use to glue to foam to the wood --- spray 90 as well? Just curious.

Just re-looked through the pics and man, does it look good.

Thanks Jim, Ya I used the spray 90 for the foam as well, I used Spray 77 on the Naked Lady but it is now where near as strong of a bond.

Motivational photos.

Been real busy at work, but still making a little progress. Got the vinyl glued to the inside of the gunwals, the port side panel upholstered and the starboard one redone. Cleaned and polished the frame for the ski locker and installed it, as well as hinging the DH cover.

Looks real nice!

So what did you end up using to glue the floor vinyl down? And the hull sides? Tips? How hard was it?
