Not sure about you out there in SK DII (though national news did a bit on this being the coldest prairie spring since 1877 or something) but the rivers in 'peg city still are only partially open, they are still hard water fishing on the lakes in NW Ontario and the Canada geese are paddling in the puddles that form during the day ( and freeze again at night) on people's lawns.

But the weather man is calling for about 20C Saturday so hope you get to splash her soon!

I am with everybody else I want to see that boat in the water. I can imagine how anxious you are.

Maybe you should name her "Ice Age II", Dozer.

That's a good one GA

Yesterday was the nicest day we have had so far this year, If all goes as planned I'm planning to splash on the 11 or 12th of May weather permitting.

You got that right AJ.

Dozer - I hope the splash date prediction doesn't unleash another late Spring snow storm/deep freeze. Maybe don't give Mother Nature any warning - Just do it on the sly.

Down to one thing left on the list. Got the rear seat boxes anchored. I have been struggling with ideas on how to do it for the last couple weeks and I think this will work real good. I wanted them to be easy to remove for working back there, but not sliding around, plus I didn't want to have to take fasteners in & out as that usually leads to stripped or worn out holes. The boxes sit flush against the front cover for the rear deck so I installed a length of 1/2 foam tape to cushion them against the vinyl then screwed 1"wide lengths of good old Dollar store cutting board to the deck with sealer on the threads. Now the boxes can't slip in any direction, and all I have to do is lift them out.

And this photo is for JASON, you the man. I was saving this for a special place. If it wasn't for Iboats most of us wouldn't have a clue how to do what we do on these boats.

Thanks Chad, I was pretty much the same way when I came here, I had done a rebuild on a glass boat and swore never again. I didn't know how easy the tin ones were till I came here and listened to all these great guys.

Sweeeeet! I like the Powered By... for sure this one's gonna be around in your stable for many, many years. Built like a B52 Bomber... Looks like Ferrari 458 Italia!!!

Great idea for the back seats. Very similar to how my Dad's boats rear seats are held in place.

On the rear seat install, what will keep them from bouncing up off the mounts and coming loose in rough conditions?

Hey Chad, the tops of the seat boxes have a length of foam tape across the back, when I set the box down over the plastic stops the foam tape creates a friction bond on the front of the rear deck, they are really quite stiff to get out.

Re: 1986 ss 201

Thank You !! Jason

So I'm onto the last item on my list, it has been a real battle for me. After Jason's battery ordeal I think he has Jinxed the rest of us for eternity.
My install is fairly complicated due to the ways I plan on charging the batts. I purchased a 3 bank charger that will keep everything in TipTop condition when I bring the SS home, but when I leave it at the lake I have a problem, our site is unserviced, I use solar panels to keep the fifth wheel up to snuff, but what to do with the boat. I have 32k of gravel to travel over so I don't like to bring the boat home all the time. My plan is to plug the boat into the fifth wheel and charge off the solar panels. That's not that difficult in itself other than the system is 24 volts for the TM. If I just hooked it up to the trailer I would burn everything up. So I have to put a disconnect in the series line between the two batteries.

Here's how my pea brain worked for a while.

This was the first decisive location--

Then I made my mind up that here was the best place---

Gotta remember the batts sat in each location for at least a week while I pondered my decision.

Then it all came to me WHOA

The bow floor locker was perfect.
Here is the 3 bank charger

And the 100 amp fuse

I'm just waiting for the disconnect switch and a few 50amp plugs to arrive and I can do the final hook ups.

Sure glad that's over with.

Hi Glenn, you're still keeping the starting battery in the Stern correct? If not, you're going to need a honkin' cable to make that 20'+ run (knowing you, it's probably already there!)

EDIT: I just realized what TM stood for...nevermind; this is the ideal setup for the BMTM :)

Re: 1986 ss 201

Great battery solution, DII. Probably one of the best! :D

A couple of solar charger Qs. Will the solar panel charge the SS and 5th wheel at the same time? Does the travel trailer have a genny you could plug the SS into? I'm asking because I always read that a solar charger can help maintain a charge but they have trouble re-charging a drawn down battery. That's the little solar panels, do you have a large panel on the RV?
